  1. Babe Ruth's and .... Lorenzen? https://www.mlb.com/news/michael-lorenzen-homers-notches-win-for-reds?partnerId=ed-14376837-1165042963https://www.mlb.com/news/michael-lorenzen-homers-notches-win-for-reds?partnerId=ed-14376837-1165042963 There have been many other pitchers/ position players, but I always thought Vic Davalilo would do this. (He pitched 185 games in the minors, but only 2 in the majors) Later
  2. Every time we think Matz has finally got his shit together, he pulls the football away like Lucy. I'd keep Strohman in for this turn because: He has pitched batter in his last few starts He is a "ground ball pitcher" and Philly is a bandbox Even a blind dog hits an occasional fire hydrant, and he's due for a good game. 4. The way they took the game away from Jake was criminal. They don't belong in a bull pen, they belong in the State pen. Later
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: It's official, Jacob deGrom isn't allowed to win games. I'm sure he's glad he signed that contract extension. (sm=99) Later
  6. Somebody please keep sharp objects away from Jake. Later
  7. =nymr83 post_id=20761 time=1567561962 user_id=54] McNeil!! come on guys, gotta Diaz-proof this lead!
  8. You can't have Bashlor without a bash. Later
  9. Frayed Knot wrote: Ummm, could use a few walks. He had OBPs of .359 and .420 his two prior years. He was trying to show he is better than a highly touted signee, so maybe he was pressing this year. I have full confidence he'll get more selective. Later
  10. My kid finished the season with a slash line of: .292/.328/.489/.817 The other numbers were: 44G 192PA, 178 AB, 26 R, 52 H, 11 2B, 0 3B, 8 HR, 49 RBI, 0-2 SB, 8 BB, 36K. Not bad. Keep it up, kid. Later
  11. THIS Sam Haggerty? https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hagger000samhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hagger000sam Why? Later
  12. =G-Fafif post_id=20535 time=1567361766 user_id=55] These cards are diabolical genius. I thought they should have their own thread, but their continued existence in this thread somehow makes them even more diabolical genius.
  13. Bat guano. Later
  14. There is no simple answer to the second one. I'm not playing games, sparky. I'm still waiting for a cogent answer to the first one. What was it about a "giving up" thread that made you think these were pertinent? I asked the question simply, so you can understand it. Later
  15. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=20520 time=1567353480 user_id=68] =MFS62 post_id=20519 time=1567351835 user_id=60] What do these cards have to do with a give up day?
  16. What do these cards have to do with a give up day? OK, so I get the batmags/ Batman tie-in. But still ... Maybe in a different thread? Later
  17. =kcmets post_id=20506 time=1567310083 user_id=53] I should have said, faulting Pete for not hitting more HR bbbyyy...
  18. The Platinum Award winner at a recent Los Angeles Film Festival, this feature film is about the feelings of family members after the loss of a loved one. It is based on the true story of an Irish - American family from New York. It was produced and directed by Christopher Hall, the son of one of my co-workers. Chris has worked for Spielberg and Scorcese, so he has an excellent pedigree. It has not been released into general distribution yet, but keep a lookout for it. Later
  19. Alonso should be tearing up this bandbox, and isn't. Are the pitchers getting him out or has he been getting himself out (swinging at bad pitches)? Later
  20. I rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers. I never give up. But these guys are making it tough. Later
  21. Tell me again about Chilli teaching them to 'Hit 'em where they ain't". None of these guys are Wee Willie Keeler. Later
  22. Victor f'n Caratini? Gimme a break. Later
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Wilson Ramos just can't be slowed down ... because he's so slow already I heard (pre-game show on WCBS) that he has the best BA in the NL since the All-Star Game. J.D. Davis and Rosario are also in the top 10. Later
