  1. For your viewing pleasure at a later date https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2023/02/espn-films-announces-multi-part-documentary-event-the-yankees-win/https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2023/02/espn-films-announces-multi-part-documentary-event-the-yankees-win/ That is the perfect reason for a violently hurling imoji. 2. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=118328 time=1676468786 user_id=68] It's all about the money. Owners could give a flying fuck about the purity of the game.
  3. =metsmarathon post_id=118298 time=1676400919 user_id=83] nice work. jake odorizzi, despite having started 237 games, has yet to complete a game.

  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The runner is whoever is due to bat ninth in the inning. MLB.com only says: As has been the case for the past three seasons, teams will begin each inning after the ninth with an automatic runner on second base. https://www.mlb.com/news/automatic-runner-permanent-new-mlb-rules-for-position-players-pitchinghttps://www.mlb.com/news/automatic-runner-permanent-new-mlb-rules-for-position-players-pitching Other reports I've read (including USA Today, CBS Sports) only say "A runner will be placed at second base.." None of the reports I've seen have specified whether that is the next batter due up. Later
  7. Who will the runner be for the Mets? I don't think of any of the non-starters as being particularly fast. And does Buck want to risk a pitcher getting inured doing something they don't regularly do? This might have been Khalil Lee, but I don't think he'll be back with the big club (or at least until his legal difficulties have been resolved). I will be interesting to see how this is resolved. 8. Bravo! Well done. As always. Later
  9. Verlander? (The "you might hate me" led me to this pick) Later

  11. Frayed Knot wrote: The length of the deal could be interesting as it could be his final one. KH turns 70 this year and ... well let's just say that he didn't exactly inherit the 'Hardest working man in show business' title when James Brown checked out. SNY reporting it will be a three year deal. Later

  15. Just got tickets for our annual family trip to see the Yard Goats. Unfortunately, they won't be disguised as the Hartford Bouncing Pickles that day. The Yard Goats will play three games under different team names. For the game on May 17, the team will play as the Hartford “Bouncing Pickles,” playing tribute to an old law in the state that prohibits the sale of a pickle unless it can be bounced off the ground. https://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/ct-hartford-yard-goats-schedule-2023-17776357.phphttps://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/ct-hartford-yard-goats-schedule-2023-17776357.php But if there are any hats available, I'm getting one. 16. =Fman99 post_id=118073 time=1676037548 user_id=86] Sandy Alderson's son Bryn* leaving his role as assistant GM. Good luck, nepotism beneficiary. *stupid name alert
  17. I don't think the incremental cost of a National [CROSSOUT]Super Bowl [/CROSSOUT] sorry, Big Game ad would yield the incremental revenue. Local tv sounds more cost effective. Later

  21. =G-Fafif post_id=117896 time=1675861570 user_id=55] ” Shantz said. “I still get letters in the mail from people, and they ask me what the difference was between Connie Mack and Casey Stengel. I say, ‘One never said anything and the other never shut up!'”

  23. One of the prospects who won't be invited to camp is Matt Allen. The Mets announced he underwent UCL Revision Surgery which will idle him for the entire year. https://metsmerizedonline.com/matt-allan-underwent-ucl-revision-surgery/https://metsmerizedonline.com/matt-allan-underwent-ucl-revision-surgery/ This is the third surgery for Allan over the last couple of years that started with Tommy John in May of 2021 and then ulnar nerve transposition January of 2022. Allan was taken by the Mets in the third round of the 2018 draft, but is yet to pitch since 2019. Later
  24. Heyman reporting that one doctor said Correa's ankle was the worst he had ever seen. https://metsmerizedonline.com/heyman-doctor-suggested-correa-has-worst-ankle-hes-seen/https://metsmerizedonline.com/heyman-doctor-suggested-correa-has-worst-ankle-hes-seen/ Not sure why this came out NOW. Possible reasons I can think of: The Mets shifting the blame to the doctor if Correa has a good career. The Mets setting up an "I told you so" if he gets inured. Heyman needing to fill up print space until Spring Training starts. Later
