  1. For the delay in announcing the completion or scheduling of the surgery. I've heard it many times at pressers when reporters asked about injuries. Haven't you? Later
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Has Maurico had his surgery yet? I haven't heard anything about when it's supposed to happen. Did he even have his MRI, or are they using the classic "waiting for the swelling to go down" for the delay? Later
  3. It was on HBO last night. I watched the first 15 or so minutes and turned it off. My wife made it to 20 minutes, and our kids had Barbie Dolls. Maybe I'll try it again, but come in about mid way so I don't have to watch the first 15 minutes again. They were trying to show that all women are equal no matter what they choose to do, but it was annoying. Later
  4. I remember him as Lee "BB" Richard, infielder for the ChiSox. Later
  5. Ok by me. Later
  6. MacKenzie once told Stengel that, at $10,000 per year, he was the lowest paid member of Yale's Class of '56. “But you had the highest ERA,” Stengel fired back with flawless timing. The Stengel/MAcKenzzie story I remember is when Stengel came out to visit Ken on the mound and said "Make believe they're the Harvards". Later
  7. =metirish post_id=142938 time=1702575098 user_id=72] Please , wait until Cohen and Stearns roll up with Hartwig , Bickford and Heineman ( those are his money managers btw )
  8. =metirish post_id=142957 time=1702593631 user_id=72] ... Spurs would love to win, they've not win anything in years
  9. Great job. Lots of research and an entertaining read. BUT Family is family. And friends are friends. The family played with big balls (volley and basket) and the friends played with little balls (base). No-one in that family blood line has demonstrated the ability to hit a little one, including Trayce. I have a Grinch-like feeling he'll be demonstrating his skills at Syracuse. Sorry, Trayce. Later
  10. I got it. Well played, as is the Gozer comment. Later
  11. We weren't in the room. When he told that to the reporters, did they ask "Why? Is Carlos inured"? Any competent reporter should have. It would have been big news if he had been. And if they did, it would have given Randolph a chance to explain. But we don't know if that happened from one side of the story. Later
  12. I like this idea: from Rotoworld: ESPN's Jeff Passan reports Major League Baseball will hold it's first-ever “Spring Breakout” minor league showcase games March 14-17. The series of games will showcase young players from all 30 organizations, with prospect groups from each team facing off against one another, as part of a doubleheader accompanying a regular spring training contest. Passan adds that the goal is to bring top-caliber prospects onto big league fields as opposed to backfield games at spring training complexes. Later
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: It's being claimed that TV ratings and in-house attendance was up for these games -- although I am suspicious whether those claims are actual or partially propaganda -- so the league and the hoops press is declaring it a rousing success. set-up. I saw a comment on a Nets board after they were eliminated that said the tourney attendance was lower than for their regular games. IIRC is was a substantial drop (1,500/game) But I've seen no data for other teams. Later
  14. (Channeling FK) If Ohtani had waited one more day to sign, ESPN wouldn't have covered it. All of their shows would have been filled with stories about the first college basketball game for LaBron James' son. Later
  15. Tempus starting to fugit. Later
  16. =bmfc1 post_id=142786 time=1702407500 user_id=73] Unless they decide to go after Matt Chapman.
  17. The picture is kinda' dark. Is Alex Ramirez wearing a (gasp) flat brimmed cap? Later
  18. I'd rather have Iglesias on the 25 man roster than Zack Short. I hope I'm right by the time camp breaks. Later
  19. I'm actually really worried that we won't get Yamamoto, and he'll end up with the MFY Me, too. I know that Stearns met with him in Japan, which shows respect. But the MFYs are meeting with him today. And the guy who gets in the last meeting can say "I can top that". Later
  20. This crotchety Mets fan passed on this one. Later
  21. In the words of Joe Schultz, as quoted in Ball Four, "shitfuck". Later.
  22. Huge attention was paid to a flight tracker route from southern California to Toronto This "may" have led to some outlets being premature with the Ohtani to the Blue Jays Canadian Robert Herjavic, shark tank dude, was flying home Tweet of the day, by Jason Benetti (new Tiger PBP guy and will be calling the Alabama-Purdue game in Toronto)... My plane has landed in Toronto. Pulling our chains. Later
  23. =kcmets post_id=142543 time=1702134837 user_id=53] I heard earlier this morning Ohtani has signed a minor league deal the Toledo Mudhens. Huge, huge I tell ya!
