1. Turned out to be a pretty savvy get for a minor-league veteran. I on more than 1 occasion was moved to remark/write/tweet/blog "Goddamn that DJ made my day."
2. Smallish lefty, No. 46, but not Oliver Perez. Some good results early but they never really trusted him.
3. Great Mob name but didn't look anything like a guy called Joey Lucchesi should look. Set himself with his glove held high like an old-school pitcher. Wore #47.
4. this sounds pretty bad
5. Me, I was a bit overpromised by the reviewers. It was good, just not great.
6. It's beginning to resemble the Premier League where there are a small handful of international superteams in with the regular clubs. These teams have a much larger addressable market, I think that's the idea.
7. It's not a good movie. But I can see myself re-watching it for the cheese factor. -- almost unknown Kevin Costner -- hilariously dated subplot about the dawn of sports medicine and cringe gym scenes --biking is also way dated. They use helmets and not cowboy hats today --big cliché sports movie. The villain in addition to being a nasty ex-husband of Costner's babe, is raging mad in every scene, cheats, impolite to the press etc. How 7-Eleven allowed a character like this to be clad head to toe in their gear I'll never know -- the Russian cyclist was so obviously not Russian --puzzling medical issue never really explained --Young [CROSSOUT]Jennifer Grey[/CROSSOUT] Alexandra Paul is worth seeing
8. sorry about that. Fun Fact: This movie and "American Flyers" both star [CROSSOUT]Jennifer Grey[/CROSSOUT] Alexandra Paul. We didn't plan that
9. Estranged bike-racing brothers encounter all manner of hijinks en route to a big race in Colorado. Written by Breaking Away's Steve Teisch. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of these 1985 movies.
10. Road-movie hijinks ensure when mismatched Jew cousins from New York visit Poland, from where their late grandmother escaped the holocaust. Not posting the trailer because its a short movie and all the good scenes are in there.
11. He's a jock but he's not jocky, kinda goofy and immature, intelligent, his own man. You can root for him, he's not a classic hero. His friend Kutch is all facade, and tragically so. I thought he was good. My issue was the girl. She wasn't consistently played, swinging from bitchy tough chick to sensitive artist, and she didn't know whether to go for the 18 year old or the 34 year old but it wasn't like she was confused, she just wasn't following a linear path. Too much Pat Benatar not enough Susanna Hoffs
12. =Centerfield post_id=183178 time=1737145250 user_id=65] Love this move. Not as sexy as Tanner Scott, but has a longer history of success.
13. I thought this movie was better than most "brat pack" coming-of-age films. I didn't read the novel it was based on but you could sorta tell that was original. --I didn't know Spokane had a busy downtown with hotels and taxis --Weird that an 18-year-old student can hang out in a bar that his teacher is in and nobody raises an eyebrow. --Sign of the times that confessing to not participating in a gangbang is a source of shame --Fairly typical sports-movie ending but at least the opponent wasn't an over-the-top villain --"It's not 6 minutes. It's what happens in them" (or something) --Big 80s soundtrack with Madonna, Journey's brightly arranged "Only the Young," and "Lunatic Fringe" which became a wrestling-team anthem.
14. High school wrestler encounters wandering tough-chick, sparks fly and hijinx ensue. Watched this last night for the first time since seeing it new in the theater. Cast is interesting --Jake Ryan from 16 Candles as Kutch --Forrest Whitaker as a wrestler --The Sure Thing girl Daphne Zuniga as the newspaper edtior --Dick Jones from Robocop as the Dad
15. Love it
16.
17. Mets don't sign many guys from Panama
18. Don't sleep on Kleber Gamez.
19. Is this the ultimate Alonso leverage play?
20. Quirky and weird is fine. Try-hardy is shit.
21. He'll be good for a few HRs to right at MFY Stadium, and probably one of them off Diaz
22. =metirish post_id=182858 time=1736808442 user_id=72] Yeah not having your maybe Japanese teammates wasn't it, I'm sure if Jeff was still around and could have driven him around Westchester and Connecticut he would have been sold
23. Am I the only person who saw this?!? --Solid performances and music performances. I liked whathisname as Pete Seeger especially, Bob's women somewhat less. --Didn't reveal enough of what made Dylan good. It was just like, he's a good songwriter, what more do you want? --Usual biopic issues of compressed timelines, etc
24. Another vote for "between the bases." Also, what gwreck said about prices and crowds for weekend games I've generally had a good experience with Pepsi Porch when I'm close to the field and in fair territory. I much prefer sitting in right field than in left (too dark, like the old Loge Cave)
