  1. I feel like it's hard to find a jock who is good enough to be respected by all of his teammates and also a Goody Goody who the manager likes. That's why we don't see that many captains
  2. Another travesty of a CPF poll that was.
  3. when and where is the exhibit?
  4. If you haven't listened to his interview on the Rain Delay Theater podcast, it's well worth the 45 minutes of your life to do so. Gelbs and Wayne challenge him to remember all ten of his walkoff hits, and he remembers every single one, including the pitcher, the pitch, the situation, the ballpark, everything, in order, and they're completely gobsmacked. It's AWESOME. https://soundcloud.com/raindelaytheater/talking-with-good-friend-wilmer-floreshttps://soundcloud.com/raindelaytheater/talking-with-good-friend-wilmer-flores enjoying this thanks!
  5. MR FREEZE is the one that got screwed, early in the competition. I liked watching him, how easy his swing was. Never looked like he was trying to whallop the ball, just very fast wrists, so smooth.
  6. coffee spit
  7. What's up Dickwad? lololllol
  8. PS, looks like the DBaggs are to sign Wilmer Flores

  10. Did anyone really cry at DW's final appearance? I was sad myself, but I also couldn't shake that part of me who also knew how manufactured an event the last appearance was; manufactured in part so as to generate the kind of back-page populist win you folks are now stroking them back for! It's a Fake News circle jerk! VOTE FOR BADNESSSSSSSS!!!!11
  11. Yeah Pollock has obviously been waiting to collect $$ from the loser of the Harper sweeps. I'm still in denial that the Mets won't shock everyone and get Harpo; but I think Pollock would be a good get too
  12. Wetteland always struck me as a complete fucktard
  13. Midnight Badness has a better picture, better overall design, better headline, and was more indicative of the season it chronicles. VOTE FOR BADNESS! #TeamBadness
  14. Beyond the fact that Lagares actually increased his groundball rate with the new "lift-angle" swing, the Post reports new hitting coach Chili Davis is to discourage such approaches at the plate this year. I kinda like that the Mets have a brother called "Keon Broxton" He sounds like he could also be a buzzy electronic band from Manchester.
  15. I'm in favor of exploring ways of getting Frazier off the club somehow though it seems we still need some RH pop. I'd totally do that Sonny Gray trade. I'd do a Frazier-for-Frazier trade just because
  16. wow. 1st reaction is I used to like this guy. is he still any good?
  17. I think the game in Montreal he references must have been this one where that no-talent hack Ed Glynn got the save in relief of washed-up celebrity soft-tosser Dock Ellis. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MON/MON197908051.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MON/MON197908051.shtml
  18. Says Dwight Bernard in a candid 1979 interview https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7903/31750606957_c6e96e5e9a_c.jpg> My goofing around the Kingman thread below got me into a kind of rabbit hole where I'm trying to de-conflate Dwight Bernard with Mark Bomback (who were traded for one another), with Mike Birkbeck and Mark Bruhert (and also, Scott Holman)
  19. My take, which happens to be the correct one btw, is that ITS RAINING METS is just a way of saying "When It Rains, It Pours" as a means of collecting all the bad news besetting the club while showing a picture of them taking cover in a soaked dugout. And by soaked dugout I mean...
  20. Not for nothing but I can't think of a more fruitless waste of anxiety than trying to divine anything Fred Wilpon will do through whisper interpretation. Seems to me the proper default setting is we root for a team that shops for bargains on credit, and pays full retail only with cash (i.e. players)
  21. Yeah I'm not happy he's leaving either and would have guessed him to be promising, despite whatever happened last year. I don;t really have much memory of his Metness, I'd switched off the Metbrain by then
  22. Yes he and dArnaud were probably too friendly -- they kept going on double dates and stuff. You figure at some level that carried over to maybe, not being so aggressive when they ought to have been with other teammates like pitchers. I guess what I'll remember about Plawecki was how dArnaud's injury thrust him probably way too soon into the role of starting MLB catcher. It might have looked at first like a great opportunity but come August you realize the guy's one of the worst everyday hitters in the league and still learning how to be good defensively. He might be a different guy if darnaud doesn't get hurt that first season.
  23. =Centerfield post_id=820 time=1546960203 user_id=65] Rainin is such a pointless cover. It says something about the other covers that it's made it this far.
  24. Well the patches indicate that's 86 all right.
