1. I know it's probably sour grapes but read there was some concerns around Lindors effort last year in Cleveland. I try and remind myself of these incidents among the barrage of "best ever" stories that invariably accompany the new guy/rookie
2. Awesome. Everyone fill in Ceetars doc! Winner gets a guest slot in his beer podcast. 🍺
3. =Fman99 post_id=59081 time=1617219482 user_id=86] I play in a Thursday night darts league at a local bar (we wear masks, it's OK!). I am going to be half watching while I play - but this is OK also because in that setting I will not be able to hear the insipid ESPN broadcast team. Just visuals.
4. No Opening Day is official until YOU have participated in the annual "Mets Firsts" Contest. I never actually complete scoring this contest and can't find last year's thread so let's just say, SOMEONE won, and it's YOUR JOB to wrestle that coveted Championship Belt from them! It's easy and FUN. Simply let us know the correct response to the following questions BEFORE playball April 1: Name the first Mets of 2021 to: 1. Get a base hit 2. Reach base safely by any means 3. Hit a double 4. Hit a triple 5. Hit a home run 6. Score a run 7. Get credited with a RBI 8. Draw a walk 9. Hit a sacrifice fly 10. Steal a base 11. Get thrown out at home 13. Strike out as a hitter 14. Drive in more than 1 run in a single turn at bat 15. Appear as a pinch hitter 16. Get a "walk-off" RBI 17. Get hit by a pitch Pitching/Fielding 18. Pitcher to get credit for a win 19. credit for a save 20. Appearance as a relief pitcher 21. Take a loss 22. Fielder to commit an error Extra Credit/Tiebreakers: 23. Predict the date of Rojas' first ejection 24. Score the first play of the *bottom* of the first inning, first game 25. First Met to reach 2 home runs for the season:
5. I like your pessimistic outlook but I'm never capable this time of year to commit to it. But 79 wins is really pessimistic. I don't buy the division being especially strong, at least not where we couldn't see 79 wins for any other
6. Awesome but also a few concerning head-up-ass stretches. .299/.365/.465 -- 16 homers, 35 doubles, 90 RBI, at least 1 chewing-out by Rojas that carries the back page.
7. I saved your asses. Draft is... tonight?
8. If you watch his ABs you can see him stretch his chest muscles by pointing his elbows back behind him
9. 1:43:50 Flynn lays down a squeeze bunt, Hendoo slides under the tag
10. a .500 Spring Training is like the perfect record. It proves we can win when we want, but just enough to remind them they can lose. I'm getting more CAHNfident about this year allatime
11. The other thing you can't help but notice is how small these guys are: Maddox, Chapman, Flynn all listed at 5-11, look shrimpier than even our chubby little pal Guillorme
12. 1:23:30 the Konger takes Swan for a ride 1:35 misplays a sinking shallow hit in left for an RBI single
13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: From 2014: http://archives.thecranepool.net/21200/f1_t21274.shtmlLet's Make a Trade Today Whoops In my defense he'd only just come up and was considered the lesser of Montero-Sydergaard-Wheeler-Matz comers at that time. I had a thing about Didi, if you look hard enough you can also find me advocating we cough up Syndy for him
14. 92-70 1$+ Y Mets 36
15. I don't care about the money really. I mean I do but I don't
16. Chapman hit the ball pretty hard! No power tho. Marty Noble said he was a terrific athlete
17. I thought predicting 25 HRs was conservative... I was probably generous on the other numbers but yeah there's frequently that poor first year thing
18. Mazzilli also wore a NNOB jersey. at 1:06:34 he does his cool ball-4 bat flip:
19. The whole damn game is on the Youtube. For me a big moment at 2:25:30 http://www.mbtn.net/?p=3393http://www.mbtn.net/?p=3393
20. Why did I say that then.... I looked it up somewhere this morning
21. Veteran new arrivals who get hurt during spring training often never get around to making an impact. I see Marty here working back from injury at AAA when some other club like Oakland or Pittsburgh gets an injury and trades for him. We get cash considerations that aren't all that considerable.
