  1. I'll just throw out one of my pet trades-- not arguing this was necessarily more devastating than say Ryan-Fregosi, but coughing up Carp, Carrera, Chavez, Heilman, Joe Smith, Cleto and Jason Vargas across 2 teams for 3 absolutely worthless players-- Putz, Jeremy Reed and Sean Green (the relief pitcher)-- was a colossal waste of resources. Had we taken nothing in return, and released every player except Joe Smith, they'd have been way better off. Complete indictment of Omar's stunning incompetence, and the clubs' naked ambition to appear like they were improving vs. actually improving. Still pissed off about it.
  2. I think what's obvious is that body language alone showed Bassitt and Mazeika weren't connecting in at least 1 game I recall. And if you belive the persona they're trying to create for Bassitt in those SNY promos, it's possible he might be the more ornery one in the relationship. Also, I didn;t read the article. What does Hefner say?
  3. Not all rookies get shit on by the vets, but some do, and in those cases it's often about a personality issue. At some level, the vets must believe that personality will interfere with the player's/team's performance--even it comes out as uneasiness about taking another vets' job. Milledge was another. Something about him didn't sit right with teammates.
  4. Hey I think I was at The Casey Fossum Game
  5. =Gwreck post_id=96037 time=1655262686 user_id=56] Lindor, Guillorme, Escobar (and Marte) have a thing when returning to the dugout where they continue flipping the ball between them as they run off the field. Not sure the TV cameras would show it. Lots of fun.
  6. Thatt season was fragile tho. Sanchez got hurt and the whole thing collapsed. This team has thrived in worse injury conditions
  7. Nimmo CF Marte RF Lindor SS Alonso 1B McNeil LF Escobar 3B Guillorme 2B Plummer DH Nido C Tuesday Night Mets Club Section 511
  8. Yeah, I've been thinking that the Mets should lean into the idea of the 7 train ("The International Express") when their City Connect comes around. So sorta what Queensboro FC did with the colors, and this guy did with the "Queens"--but be literal and make the jersey front read Willets Point-Mets in the same subway font. Numbers in magenta circles on the back, Unisphere patch.
  9. If a lefty reliever named Nick Zwack doesn't erase all of Orosco, Franco, Looper, Wagner and McGraw's lefthanded relief records for the Mets--combined--there is no justice in this world. None.
  10. I'm completely on target as I voted 8 and contemplated a Brewer sweep
  11. 5-5 trip to the west coast while we played at least some of our worst games of the year and had our roster compromised like never before. Next Up: Tuesday Night Mets 🌙
  12. Like, a 6 run inning would be a pretty good thing here
  13. I'll have the Roasted Trout with Mango Salsa
  14. I didn't know an Elvis movie was coming out
  15. So 5 out save for Diaz, coming on with a runner on and Trout due up. Uh.
  16. =DocTee post_id=95775 time=1655079487 user_id=85] Boy, Mike Trout is um, kinda insipid.

  18. Ultimate Frisbee grew up as things invented in the 60s and often performed by high people do, with a woven-in antiauthorianism in its rules that have become problematic at the highest physical level. So, call your own fouls, no referees, poor sportmanship is "against the rules" as "spirit of the game" trumps all. It took years of debate just to get anyone agree to a kind of "observer" system they use now in high-level play. Before that happened the so-called spirit often became the stress on the game itself as jock-first players knew it could be exploited.

Thanks! /cues "we are the world " / I do like umpires, warts and all -- its part of the charm and heritage for me that goes into my faith in and admiration of baseball as a thing... but realize benefits of a more accurate game resulting fom replay-- I just don't like the execution and all the instances very much in a matter of taste. There are other matters in today's game where resistance to change plays out among fans and I'm on the "progressive" side-- like for example the streaming TV movement and all the hate for national broadcasts which I express a lot less of than many others in this room. Sure it's inconvenient, and they suck, but there's a cultural world into which baseball probably needs a better fit for consumption over the long term that gets trampled every time this comes up.
  20. The ones they wore last night looked good on the field-- as opposed to the Rockies, who looked better as a concept imo but kinda stupid in play
