  1. Mets need go 165 the rest of the way to get Terry Collins to 400 wins as a skipper on the high Met seas. He is also on the verge of passing Joe Frazier in the win percentage column. And maybe his antecedent Jerry Manuel too if he hits that 400 mark. Wins by a Mets Manager Davey Johnson: 595Bobby Valentine: 536 Terry Collins Projected to End of Season: 395.91Terry Collins: 384Gil Hodges: 339 =#FF8000]Terry Collins at Start of Season: 304Willie Randolph: 302Yogi Berra: 292Joe Torre: 286Dallas Green: 229Jerry Manuel: 204Casey Stengel: 175 Wining Percentage by a Mets Manager Davey Johnson: .588Willie Randolph: .544Bobby Valentine: .534Bud Harrelson: .529Gil Hodges: .523Yogi Berra: .497Jerry Manuel: .489 Terry Collins Projected to End of Season: .488784Joe Frazier: .488Terry Collins: .486689 =#FF8000]Terry Collins at Start of Season: .469136Dallas Green: .447 What I take away from this is, its probably time to discuss Bobby V for enshrinement in the Mets HOF. To be alongside Gil and Davey as skippers in said HOF.

  3. I'm doing the card routine. I think as long as we keep away from things such as U.S. Presidents and albums featuring numbers again, we should be good! =
  4. Waiting on Gil, but in the meantime, due to controversy concerning the #15s on the 1986 and 2006 teams, might be better checking out d'Arnaud in his old uni number:

  6. Edgy MD wrote: It must be true. This is Rantsports we're talking about. Some of the picks are spot on, but the majority, like the Orosco one, are pretty much WTF!? Like the author knew a old-ish Met fan in the office and asked "hey, first name that comes to mind when I say spotty reliever?"
  7. We wouldn't have to fully forgive the foibles, but we'd have to readily acknowledge the contributions. Timo catalyzed the Mets in 2 playoff rounds. Armando was lights-out in '99 regular season. Rogers never lost at Shea. The former Brave won a pair of games in '06 postseason. Beltran was Beltran most of the time. Maybe 30 days of goodwill toward Mets until our preferred narratives inevitably take hold again. It only takes a moment to be traumatized and all the good stuff seeps down the drain. In Armando's case, a collection of moments. I mean, I remember the good stuff. I'm aware of it. But it doesn't balance out. For me, anyway. I know. It's not fair. Still trying to figure the moments this author thought traumatized Mets fans to the point of making Messy Fiasco the most hated player in Met history, and the 4th most hated in his rankings. Hated By: Mets Fans. In a long line of underachieving Mets players, Orosco might just take the cake. He wasted a lot of time in New York in the minds of Mets fans, and that must have been infuriating. He wasn't that mean of a guy or anything, but he never seemed to realize his potential, and that was bad enough in the minds of Mets fans. Really?! More so than the players listed so far in this thread? On top of his performance in the 1986 postseason?

For the 2008 Mets, there was no tomorrow. For the 2015 Mets, there appear to be quite a few. That left such a bad taste in the Mets mouth, they razed the whole building. 4 more wins, and the Mets clinch their first .500 or better season since that year.
  9. FINE! Kinda miss this guy in the SNY studio

  11. Since the admins are ignoring the reporting of this thread... [youtube:1zpvjlj5]N1tyiWP9MSk[/youtube:1zpvjlj5]
  12. I already reported it due to tempting the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing.
  13. Starting with this pretty sweet card of one of the earliest top homegrown, and with a pretty long career with the team offensive standouts in Met history

And hated Piazza in 1998? It's good to keep the tradition alive of Mets fans hating our best players Harvey is very much earning it with this act, I forget the Reyes in 2007 hate, maybe you mean the hate after his sitting down after clinching his batting title during his final game as a Met?
  15. This may have come up before, but, do Jason and Greg get royalties for that Free T-Shirt SGA on Oct. 2nd? =

  19. Well then lemme ask you another question: wby do you think that funky Dock is fake? Tbe serial # doesn't match the # on the PSA Dock you posted. http://www.tradingcarddb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/76/cid/18883/1975-Topps-385-Dock-Ellis

Just tossing in my two cents about how silly that "graded" DIY Dock Ellis '75 Topps looks, and how it might fool a novice collector into thinking its a real one. Hence Jumping The Shark. But couldn't a realistic looking DIY card fool a novice, just the same? And d'ya know anyone that wants to buy that Dock? That is true, but the graded aspect makes it seem like it could be legit. Hey there could be Dock Ellis/1970s Pirates/1975 Topps collectors that could think its a legit variant. You never know.
