Maine will be feeling this song with a win tonight! The sun goes down, the night rolls in You can feel it starting all over again The moon comes up and the music calls You're gettin' tired of starin' at the same four walls You're out of your room and down on the street Movin' through the crowd and the midnight heat The traffic crawls, the sirens scream You look at the faces, it's just like a dream Nobody knows where you're goin' Nobody cares where you've been 'Cause you belong to the city You belong to the night Livin' in a river of darkness Beneath the neon lights You were born in the city Concrete under your feet It's in your moves, it's in your blood You're a man of the streets When you said goodbye, you were on the run Tryin' to get away from the things you've done Now you're back again, and you're feeling strange So much has happened, but nothing has changed You still don't know where you're goin' You're still just a face in the crowd You belong to the city You belong to the night Livin' in a river of darkness Beneath the neon lights You were born in the city Concrete under your feet It's in your blood, it's in your moves You're a man of the street You can feel it, you can taste it You can see it, you can face it You can hear it, hey, you're getting near it, hey You wanna make it, cause you can take it You belong to the city, you belong to the night You belong to the city, you belong to the night You belong, you belong -

I think alittle Southern-California-Not quite Country, Not quite Lite FM from Glenn Frey sounds good right about now: The heat is on, on the street Inside your head, on every beat And the beat's so loud, deep inside The pressure's high, just to stay alive 'Cause the heat is on Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on the heat is on Oh it's on the street, the heat is - on. Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on Oh it's on the street, the heat is - on. The shadows are on the darker side Behind those doors, it's a wilder ride You can make a break, you can win or lose That's a chance you take, when the heat's on you When the heat is on Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) (Tell me can you feel it) The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on It's on the street The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on Yeah it's on the street The heat is on -
Not to hijack, but throwing up this song as a joke in the IGT kind of hit on the same way that Greg's blog did. In a sense it kind of ties in with the whole Kazmir for Zambrano debacle a year later as well, so as Pat Alger and Garth Brooks wrote, and Garth Brooks sang... Just the other night a hometown football game My wife and I ran into my old high school flame And as I introduced them the past came back to me And I couldnt help but think of the way things used to be. She was the one that Id wanted for all times And each night Id spend prayin that God would make her mine And if hed only grant me this wish I wished back then Id never ask for anything again. (chorus) Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers Remember when youre talkin to the man upstairs That just because he doesnt answer doesnt mean he dont care Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. She wasnt quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams And I could tell that time had changed me Inn her eyes too it seemed We tried to talk about the old days There wasnt much we could recall I guess the lord knows what hes doin after all. And as she walked away and I looked at my wife And then and there I thankedd the good lord For the gifts in my life. *chorus* Some of gods greatest gifts are all too often unanswered... Some of gods greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Valadius wrote: We had a rivalry with them in the '80s. We faced them in the 2000 NLCS. This NLCS has been filled with emotion. They've disrespected our team. Pujols has turned out to be a schmuck. Spiezio's stupid red tuft of facial hair has inspired a ridiculous practice of Cardinals fans taping small red pieces of paper on their chins. Eckstein has annoyed me. Molina has pissed me off. La Russa thinks he knows everything. In short, the Cardinals have made me very angry. Even though they're not in our division anymore, I think they can assume the spot left open by the Braves as the third component of Triple Happiness. So did the 1988 Dodgers, and almost 20 years later, Tommy Lasorda is welcome at Shea with nice applause. Orel Hershiser was a Met for crying out loud! If you feel that they can, then thats your personal thing. To me its the Yankees loss, Phillies loss, Mets win right now

Willets Point wrote: ="Valadius"]I nominate the Cardinals to be our new component of Triple Happiness computation. Except that they're not in our division. How much happiness can we get from a Cardinals' regular season loss if it doesn't come from the Mets? I agree, I think since the Cards left the NL East there have been varing degrees of hatred onto the Cards from "Met Nation" Hell I hate the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, Marlins, Braves and Nationals, and have a brotherly hatred of the Astros, but other than that I really don't have any qualms about rooting another NL team in the WS (Well Braves are my thrid team behind the Reds but that was when they were in the NL West) and that includes the Cards, Cubs (HA!) and Pirates. I think that sort of inter-division rivalry kind of dissapates anyway unless its so close and so "intertwined" like Sox-Yanks and Dodgers-Giants that it comes and goes. I wouldn't be surprised if the two teams continue their course that younger Met fans would be surprised to know that there was a heated Met-Brave rivalry the way people who aren't old enough probably don't know the heat between the Mets and Cards in the 80's That being said, I'm getting to a point where shouldn't a Met win be happiness enough during the regular year and TH itself should go the way of TC

I wake up in the morning And I raise my weary head I got an old coat for a pillow And the earth was last night's bed I don't know where I'm going Only God knows where I've been I'm a devil on the run A six gun lover A candle in the wind When you're brought into this world They say you're born in sin Well at least they gave me something I didn't have to steal or have to win Well they tell me that I'm wanted Yeah I'm a wanted man I'm colt in your stable I'm what Cain was to Abel Mister catch me if you can I'm going down in a blaze of glory Take me now but know the truth I'm going down in a blaze of glory Lord I never drew first But I drew first blood I'm no one's son Call me young gun You ask about my consience And I offer you my soul You ask If I'll grow to be a wise man Well I ask if I'll grow old You ask me if I known love And what it's like to sing songs in the rain Well,I've seen love come And I've seen it shot down I've seen it die in vain Shot down in a blaze of glory Take me now but know the truth 'Cause I'm going down in a blaze of glory Lord I never drew first But I drew first blood I'm the devil's son Call me young gun Each night I go to bed I pray the Lord my soul to keep No I ain't looking for forgiveness But before I'm six foot deep Lord,I got to ask a favor And I'll hope you'll understand 'Cause I've lived life to the fullest Let the boy die like a man Staring down the bullet Let me make my final stand Shot down in a blaze of glory Take me now but know the truth I'm going out in a blaze of glory Lord I never drew first But I drew first blood and I'm no one's son Call me young gun I'm a young gun -

A penny for your thoughts now baby Looks like the weight of the world's On your shoulders now I know you think you're going crazy Just when it seems everything's Gonna work itself out They drive you right back down And you said it ain't fair That a man walks When a bird can fly We have to kick the ground The stars kiss the sky They say that spirits live A man has to die They promised us truth Now they're giving us lies Gonna take a miracle to save us this time And your savior has just left town Gonna need a miracle 'Cause it's all on the line And I won't let you down (No I won't let you down) The river of your hope is flooding And I know the dam is busted If you need me I'll come running I won't let you down... no, no You're looking for salvation You thought that it'd be shining Like an angel's light Well, the angels left this nation And salvation caught the last train Out tonight He lost one hell of a fight He said I'm just one man, that's all I'll ever be I never can be everything you wanted from me I've got plans so big That any blind man could see I'm standing in the river Now I'm drowning in the sea Gonna take a miracle to save us this time And your savior has just left town Gonna need a miracle 'Cause your heart's on the line And your heartbeat is slowing down Your feet are grounded still You're reaching for the sky You can let 'em clip your wings 'Cause I believe that you can fly Solo Well my eyes have seen the horror Of the coming of the flood I've driven deep the thorny crown Into the soul of someone's son Still I'll look you in the eye 'Cause I've believed in things I've thought And I'll die without regret For the wars I have fought Gonna take a miracle to save you this time And your savior has just left town Gonna need a miracle 'Cause your heart's doing time And your conscience is calling you out It ain't all for nothing Life ain't written in the sand I know the tide is coming But it's time we made a stand With a miracle -
10/18 Game 1 at Shea a 1-0 loss as Bruce Hurst outduels Ron Darling. Tim Tuefel's error is key play of game 10/19 Game 2's pitching matchup of Clemens vs Gooden fizzles in the cool October air as the Sox win 9-3. Both pitchers are gone by the 6th. The Sox pen shuts down the Mets and send the series to Boston with a 2-0 lead BTW, try Googling 1986 WS, just about all images come from Games 6 and 7 Might scan some this weekend

I'm pretty sure my comment (and others) were aimed at sports (and actors, radio personel, ect) unions where the industry is an entertainment based industry rather than well, actual labor and all. In other words it is unfair to put the freeze on a replacement baseball player and act like you are some AFL-CIO big shot

I don't know about other union reps (like a Tom Glavine for example) but gotta also think (Metly anyway) about a guy like Franco's background. Sure he was in 1997 (and pretty much all of his career) a well paid entertainer, but he grew up in a very blue collar/pro-union environment, so in Franco's case I understand where he comes from being cold towards the replacement players. As for the others, Dude this is an ENTERTAINMENT industry, get over yourself, this isn't something to get all paranoid and militant about
