  2. Anytime you want to show us the shot of the Mets ‘pen and tell us who's warming up, you just go right ahead and do so, ESPN.
  3. Lot of outs left for the bullpen. Garrett, Maton, Diaz 3 outs each, and, ummm….
  4. I had forgotten you get 2 challenges per game in the postseason.

  6. =metirish post_id=173435 time=1727912957 user_id=72] What was that Pete ? Did he slip?
  7. =Centerfield post_id=173388 time=1727890146 user_id=65]Looking back, the Mets jumped from 20th in runs scored in 2023 to 7th in runs scored in 2024. They did this despite down years from Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Alvarez. Crazy. Lindor had a great year, but he was pretty good in 2023. Really the production came partially from signing the aforementioned JD Martinez, but mostly a jump from Vientos, Iglesias coming out of nowhere, and better production from role players like Taylor, Marte, Winker, Bader, and even Acuna.
  8. In addition to better rewarding a division winner, there needs to be a bigger incentive to get/reward for wild card #1. New format: Day after regular season ends, 6 seed plays at 5. One game, loser goes home. Next day (no day off), 5/6 winner plays first of two games at 4. 5 seed needs to win both games to advance; if 4 seed wins either, they advance. Then division series continues as normal: WC at 1, 3 at 2. —- Justifications: -The top wild card is typically a very good team. In the last 3 years, only once has the #4 seed had a record worse than the #3 seed. And twice (including the NL in 2022, of course) the top wild card had a record as good or better than the #2 seed. -Guarantees that a 5 or 6 seed is playing 3 games before the division series, putting them at a proper disadvantage. Compare to: this year, where the Tigers can use Skubal in the WC series game 1, and and then again in DS games 2 and 5. -Bye for all 3 division winners. -Minimizes time off before the division series.
  9. =Centerfield post_id=173356 time=1727879029 user_id=65] I also wasn't sure about pinch-hitting JD Martinez in that big spot. I feel like he's not right yet. But Mendy made those calls, and man did they work out.
  10. Great lipreading. But he, like the ESPN announcers, seemed to totally forget that the Brewers intentionally hit Winker earlier this weekend. Why exactly they did that is still unclear.
  11. =Centerfield post_id=173320 time=1727829250 user_id=65] I want to beat the Royals in the World Series.

  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'd let Butto go three today if he can. I think we see some Stanek in the 9th. I'd like to have Butto available Thursday too.
  14. Sloppy play by Iglesias, not covering second.
  15. Ok, Luis. You got a reset (plus one). Let's bear down now.
  16. Maybe they shouldn't have hit Winker intentionally this past weekend.
  17. Skip Caray and Sterling are clowns and unworthy of being considered. Hard to handicap the rest of the field. I have liked Dave Sims quite a bit as well when I've heard his work.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't expect the Braves to get many votes here. Eh. Padres could be a stumbling block to getting to the WS, and Braves are less fearsome, especially sans Chris Sale?
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Mid-series changes to the roster aren't allowed unless there's an injury. (And I think years ago, you couldn't even make a replacement for an injured player. I think the Mets got stung on that in the 2006 NLCS, if I remember right.) If you make a mid-series replacement for injury, the replaced player can't come back in the next series either. I don't remember the rule from 2006. The Mets did not replace Floyd during the LCS of course. Was there talking of doing so? I guess they could've added Rickey Ledee or Lastings Milledge in his place.
  20. I'm sure Max is a nice guy, well mannered and kind to his parents. But, as the "long man", I hope we don't have to see him in this series. Later I'm ok with with a 20 run lead and thus him pitching.
  21. Max Kranick made the roster. Megill was left off. No other surprises.
  22. I understood it was a 10 AM (local time where game is being played) deadline to submit it. The Royals already announced their roster publicly.
  23. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Are the Diamondbacks the first team to miss the postseason because of a tiebreaker? Yes. The no-tiebreaker-games rule was only put in place in 2022. The ties that have been broken since then are: 2022 NL East: Braves win division/#2 seed, Mets get wild card (#4 seed) 2023 AL West: Houston wins division/#2 seed, Texas gets wild card (#5 seed) 2023 NL Wild Cards: tiebreak determined that Miami got #5 seed and Arizona #6 seed (but both teams would have made it anyway) 2024 NL Wild Cards: we all know what just happened.
