  2. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Well done. Were you blue and orange and did you absorb any abuse? Mets hat and Alonso jersey. We were a group of 4 which helped. Also I keep score at (almost) every game I attend which the dumber folks tend not to know what to do with. Lots of “did you write that down” comments after a Mets K or the Schwarber homer. Whatever. We not-so-quietly discussed amongst our group how many empty seats there were in the 8th and how much we were looking forward to victory cheesesteaks. The worst of the Philly fans got a warning from the usher—and then proceeded to heckle him. That prompted a visit from the supervisor and 3 uniformed officers for a sterner warning. Still the most unpleasant place to see a game I've ever been to, far exceeding anything in the Bronx, Wrigley, etc. Even Dodger Stadium is a distant #2.
  3. Mrs. Peterson is wearing a black jacket, holding the baby. Next to her in orange is Mrs. Alvarez. Next to her in the blue jacket is Mrs. Nimmo. Mrs. Severino (“O”) and Mrs. Lindor (“M”) are holding the sign. Directly behind Mrs. Lindor in the back row is Mrs. Quintana. Mrs. Alonso is third from right in the back row. Far right in the white hat is Mrs. Stanek.
  4. Went down to Philadelphia to check this one out in person. Proud to now hold a personal 1.000 winning percentage in road playoff games. Some observations: 1. The Mets are totally in the heads of the Philadelphia fans. Some truly vicious comments directed at folks just for being there in Mets gear. You won the division by 6 games. Why so scared? It's even worse than little-brother syndrome. 2. The Mets probably are in the heads of the Phillies players too. 3. The emptying out of the stadium in the 8th was pretty embarrassing for the Phillies fans. It's a playoff game. And not an after-midnight-on-a-cold-Tuesday situation: it was a beautiful Saturday at…7 PM? Just sad.
  5. To me, there are very very few regular season homers that can compete with the postseason. Not yet mentioned: Curtis Granderson - any of his 3 World Series home runs in 2015 when the Mets were tied or down. A heroic effort. David Wright's 2015 WS Game 3 homer.
  6. Agreed that it falls down the list due to the loss (although the HOF-vs-HOF aspect is still notable).
  7. =Centerfield post_id=174032 time=1728077210 user_id=65] Biggest HRs in Met History. Off the tope of my head. Not in any particular order. 1. 1986 WS Game 7. Ray Knight. Gave the Mets the lead 2. 1986 WS Game 7. Darry Strawberrry. (next inning)? Extended lead to 7-5. 3. 1999 NLDS. Todd Pratt game winner 4. 1999 NLDS. Game 1. Edgardo Alfonso GS off Bobby Choiunard 5. 1999 NLCS. Robin Ventura Grand Slam Single 6. 2000 NLDS. Benny Agbayani walkoff 7. 2024. Lindor vs. Atlanta, game 161 8. 2024 WC Game 3. Alonso beats Brewers 9. 2001. vs. Braves. Piazza first game after 9/11 10. 2015 NLDS Game 5. Murphy beats Greinke and Dodgers 11. 2015 NLCS Game 2. Murphy 1st inning against Arrieta

  9. Zero. Acuna's a better defender/plays more positions and is a faster runner. If Baty makes it it's because of injury or in lieu of an extra pitcher.
  10. Courtesy Tim Britton: In the last 3 years, the Mets have faced Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola a combined 15 times. The Mets won 12 of those games.
  11. =Centerfield post_id=173962 time=1728054998 user_id=65] 13 out of 15 Cranepoolers now deem this season a success.
  12. Potential new inductees to the McAndrew club (appeared on a postseason roster, but never entered a postseason game): Huascar Brazoban Max Kranick Danny Young Luis Torrens
  13. =Centerfield post_id=173965 time=1728055400 user_id=65]but I'd want no part of a rematch with the Yankees.
  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: So who pitches on Saturday? Severino? Peterson? Megill? DiComo tweeted that it's under discussion but Megill is the leading candidate. I wonder if they keep Megill to two times through the Phillies' order (similar to what happened on Sunday, 9/22) and then go with Peterson for the next 3-4 innings. Severino pitches Game 2 Sunday on regular rest. Manaea and Quintana pitch games 3 and 4 each on an extra day's rest.
  15. Mike Puma and Will Sammon both reporting that Senga is under consideration for the Division Series roster. Megill will certainly be on (Kranick to join the Jim McAndrew club…with Megill potentially leaving it) but adding Senga would pose the question of who gets removed (Danny Young? Brazoban?)
  16. No announcement yet for NLDS games 3 and 4 on Tuesday/Wednesday, but there could be afternoon games at Citi Field next week, especially Wednesday.
  17. Tough call. I guess LA? I think Mets can beat them in 7 games. SD is scary.
  18. 86 pitches isn't exactly early. It was either going to be 5 or 6 innings from Manaea. And it wasn't exactly an easy 5 innings.
  19. And in the same vein, Ken Harrelson got the Frick award recently.
  20. No, but expectation is Torrens. Mendoza also subbed out the last regular infielder in the August extra inning win against the Braves and said then it would have been Torrens (who has played first, second, and third in the majors before).
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Good pen or bad pen, I always recommend trying to get one more out from the guy that's already getting the job done. I would have gone with Garrett a second inning. He was well rested, he threw 12 pitches in the 6th, and the bottom of the Brewers order was due up. That seems like the precise scenario to get a second inning out of him, particularly with Maton and Diaz having such high workloads.
  22. Lefty Specialist wrote: Well, here's Stanek. Without looking I suspect he may have more postseason appearances than any other pitcher on the Mets roster, and maybe is second only to JD Martinez?
  23. Every time they show the sausage race I think of Randall Simon.
