Kenny Rogers=The Roaster (The Entertainer of the same name lent his name to a chain of CA chicken restaurants Needed a comma there. I couldn't figure out what "Kazmir the Roaster" was. Also, I might have my country music wrong, but I thought he was "The Gambler" [??]

  4. Curtain call when you're up 11 runs? Time to go kerplunk. Actually, that might be the best way to get Heath Bell out of the game. I don't know, Willie, do YOU think he has it tonight?
  5. Elster88 wrote: But Bernie Williams is the right fielder, so naturally it went over his head. Fairness to Williams, he played Wright and Floyd's hits to right just fine and caught both. Nady needs to hit about 3 3-run homers here for some redemption.
  6. I'd think Soler could go back to AAA to make room for John Maine tomorrow.
  7. Rickey Henderson (sitting next to Omar in the stands) is wearing bling that says "1406." (That's how many bases Rickey stole in his career).
  8. He needs to be pulled NOW. I have to wonder if Willie was slow in getting the bullpen working because of Oliver possibly taking the start tomorrow. He NEEDED to be pulled a lot earlier.
  9. ScarletKnight41 wrote: Crap! Valentin's failure to slide costs the Mets a run I can't believe I'm agreeing with Joe Morgan twice in a game but he was right that Nady needed to be there telling Valentin to slide, and he wasn't.
  10. Refreshing to see Miller and Morgan actually issue a valid criticism of the umpires -- they failed to rotate properly and weren't in position for the play at first where Giambi was doubled up. The throw clearly beat Giambi, but Franco made a poor tag and Giambi was safe, by half a hair.
  11. Pedro slipped in the bathroom and fell on his hip while he was changing his shirt during a series in Florida in May. That's the cause of the hip injury, which is bothering him, apparently.
  12. With the doubleheader coming up on Saturday, Ed Coleman said on WFAN today that Darren Oliver or John Maine would be making a start this week.
  13. Former Mets who are All-Stars also include Kenny Rogers and former Met property Jason Bay.
  14. Tarp on the field - rain delay to start.
  15. Maybe not, but if the NL wants to win, I'd sure as hell have Billy Wagner relieving instead of Brian Fuentes. Especially with another Colorado player on the roster...WTF?
  16. Billy Wagner, RP, New York Mets Other candidates: Bobby Abreu, OF, Philadelphia Phillies Chris Capuano, SP, Milwaukee Brewers Nomar Garciaparra, 1B, Los Angeles Dodgers Chris Young, SP, San Diego Padres

  19. These guys seem pretty happy:
  20. Trachsel 3 LoDuca 2 Castro 2 Wright 2 Reyes 1
  21. Trachsel and Wagner are fine, so says Marty Noble's notes column on Mets.com.
  22. Report from the house of evil: MFY fans too busy trying to boo down the Let's Go Mets chants to boo Slappy. Umps screwed us. McClelland took even longer to call Cap'n Intangibles safe at first than he does to call balls and strikes. I'd estimate at 75% MFY fans, 25% Mets fans, which is slightly higher than it seems to usually be in the Bronx for these games. I love being able to see the people leave after Cap'n Intangibles grounded into the double play and ask "Where are all these people going? Is there a fire? What's happening? The game's not over yet!"
  23. Any good will Endy might have recieved gets taken away for the totally inexcusable error of getting picked off when runners were at a serious premium. Seriously, on my ballot he gets 0 points. Not .1, not .05, ZERO.
  24. I'd like to see the Mets put in a waiver claim on him.
