I was trying to shoulder the blame after having started the IGT too. But yeah, I don't care much about those sort of "who posted first?" things, no big deal either way.
  2. I award no points and may God have mercy on your souls.
  3. ="Elster88"]Is Reyes really the second best bunter in the league? How often does he bunt? Maybe he's the best bunter for hits. But that also tends to be a function of speed.

Ramon Castro will come back, DiFelice will be gone, and besides, LoDuca will start every game in the playoffs anyway. That's the weakest spot in the lineup today.

  10. Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/story?id=2547387 ]His big-league career spanned 14 at-bats, but he left a lasting impression. He's Rodney McCray, and when he was with the Vancouver Canadians he ran straight through the outfield fence in Portland, Ore., while chasing a fly ball during a Pacific Coast League game May 27, 1991. It's become a fixture of sports bloopers -- McCray running full speed through the Flav-R-Pac sign in right-center field at Civic Stadium. The moment will be immortalized Saturday when the team hosts "Rodney McCray Bobblefence Night" at PGE Park, as Civic Stadium is now known. McCray will throw out the first pitch, sign autographs and witness the dedication of "McCray Alley" in right-center field. "I'm honored and tickled to death," McCray was quoted as saying on the Beavers' Web site. "I never get tired of talking about [the crash]. It's kind of like the skier who epitomizes the 'agony of defeat' -- I'm the guy who crashed through the wall. Usually, it's the big-league superstars who get their own bobblehead, so I'm very excited." In the seventh inning of the Beavers-Canadians game, Chip Hale hit a shot toward the wall. McCray took off. "I couldn't feel the warning track," McCray said. "Next thing you know, I'm through the wall." McCray suffered only minor injuries. He stayed in the game but was replaced before his next at-bat in the eighth inning. He's become proud of the moment. "I might not be a Hall-of-Fame player, but I made it to the Hall of Fame with a film clip," McCray said. "Not too many guys can say they're in the Hall of Fame, some way, some form. It's still pretty cool."
  11. The answer to that dilemma is to not play championship games in that sort of league. Keeping score in an individual game might be OK but there's no sense having a postseason.

  13. When Piazza goes to the Hall of Fame, his number should be retired. No question. There should be no debate on this one: Hall of Famers who had a significant portion of their accomplishments with the club get their number retired. Maybe you could argue "significant" for Piazza, but I doubt it. For Gary Carter, sure.
  14. ="Edgy DC"]A lot of journeymen stumbling into Met uniforms of late. I was curious as to why Victor Diaz didn't warrant the callup so I went to the Tides site to investigate only to discover wow, they're crappy! We really have no close-to-ML-ready position prospects. I guess Victor's .219-8-35 in AAA isn't going to get him a ticket to NY anytime soon.

  17. metirish wrote: When Lastings was at bat with the bases loaded and bounced into a run-scoring double play was I right in thinking that the fans booed him, for the members that were at the game was it loud booing? No, it wasn't Matsui-esque, but then again a run still came home on that play. The booing is kinda pointless, and he still has his fans, like those seen in the upper deck on Sunday night, but I think people are perhaps a bit tired of a .219 average with a .330 attitude.
  18. According to Mets.com, Duaner was transferred to the 60-day DL. I guess that made room for DiFelice on the 40-man roster. The Mets already had Bannister, Padilla and Victor Zambrano on the 60-day DL though, and I thought the limit was 3 60-day DL slots that don't count against the 40 man limit. Strange. -- Ricky Ledee was signed to the 40-man roster on Tuesday, with Anderson Garcia DFAed to make room. After Tuesday's game, Marrerro was DFAed and Ledee added to the 25-man roster. Assuming that Duaner doesn't count against the 40, that leaves the Mets with an open spot on the 40-man roster.
  19. Well, he lost his spot. I was frustrated that Willie steadfastedly refused to give him innings (he had 3 total, all in blowouts) behind the plate. Still, unless he could hit, his value was minimal at best. Woodward is the emergency catcher, prior to Marrerro being on the team, he would go out to warm up pitchers, etc. which I like to see, as a preparation of sorts.

  24. Ex Mets returning report: Piazza came out to warm up in the OF, the crowd noticed and started the "Mike Pi-azza, clap clap, clapclapclap" which got a tip of the cap. The video tribute, set to In My Life, was timed very nicely as it started as Piazza was walking back towards the dugout. He waved, turned around and watched it, and waved some more. Another standing O and tips of the cap, kisses being blown as he got to the dugout. Two doffs of the cap as he stepped out for the first AB. Trachsel and LoDuca did a very nice job of looking busy to give Mike time. Mike Cameron also got a very nice standing reception and I think he did a slight tip of the cap too.
