  2. Too many tickets sold to do that. They had sales of over 40k for the rained out game, and similar sales for the makeup Saturday.

  5. Not Glavine hating. I realistically expect that he retires at the end of the year, having gotten win #300.
  6. Johnny Dickshot wrote: Burhle's like a younger, fatter Tom Glavine. Bingo. I like him as a replacement for Glavine when Glavine retires at the end of this year.
  7. Long SI article (link Here). Prince just took over the lead in NL first base all-star balloting from Pujols.
  8. Torre took Wang out so he could get a standing O from the crowd. At least, that's my theory. He did have like 115 pitches at the time, but there were two outs. Everything at Yankee stadium is at least 500x worse when we're losing. Strangely, this was the first time I've ever been there for a Mets-Yankees game and we've been losing during the game (there was a Giambi walkoff double against Looper, but that was just at the end). Worst loss of the year? Maybe.
  9. Gotay 2.5 Reyes 2 Gomez 2 Castro 1.5 LoDuca 1
  10. Beltran sits tomorrow night.
  11. No stupid baserunning for anyone here, please.
  12. Good at bat by Gomez to keep the game alive. Reyes up as the tying run. Also lotsa redemption potential for Beltran.
  13. ...and loading the bases (with only one out) is a good way to start.
  14. It would be real sweet to do it against Rivera.
  15. I'm all about running wild on Posada, but down 4 in the 8th inning seems like a poor time to do so.
  16. I think Ruben has earned himself a start tomorrow, either at 2B or DH (I'm not picky).
  17. Bieser-style.
  18. Perez 4.25 Reyes 3 Gomez 1.5 Feliciano .3 Smith .3 Wagner .65
  19. It wasn't until the 3rd fight in the upper deck -- by the 2nd inning -- that I realized that I'd always go to the Sunday night game, or occasionally the Saturday afternoon game -- but had never been Friday night at Yankee Stadium. My favorite fan was not the drunk guys with bad heckles, or the guys trying to provoke fights (saw a Mets jersey that said YanksBlow and had number 69) but rather the woman right in front of me (wearning a pink Jeter jersey) who started having a temper tantrum every at bat -- "do something! you have to do something!" Several Mets were very upset with the home plate ump. Beltran. Delgado. Franco got within a hair of being run at one point between innings.
  20. Quite possible. Gehrig doesn't appear much on the career records, but check out his 1923: 6-4 with 77 Ks, and .444 AVG. Larkin still holds the Columbia season and all-time HR records.
  21. First Twins walkoff vs. the Braves since Gene Larkin (remember him?)
  22. Good, they deserve it. Edit: The Dodgers re: Sweet Caroline, not Edgy. He doesn't deserve that. None of us do.
  23. Throwing in the towel, putting Wagner in the game in the 8th so he gets an inning of work.
