  1. Yes, Sanchez is out for the year.
  2. Willets Point wrote: ="Gwreck"]If it's going to happen at home, Glavine needs to get wins in his next two starts (at LA, vs. PIT). After that, his next two starts will be on the road in Milwaukee and Chicago. Of course, he could also delay it a while more...but let's hope not. He can do it on the road. The dude's responsible for 27 Braves' wins against the Mets, so I don't really feel the need to celebrate all his wins. Maybe when he wins 300 in a Mets uniform. It's kinda cool to see, no? I mean, he is a hall-of-famer and all that. Primarily, though, I was hoping he'd do it at home then because it would mean he was pitching well and/or the team winning.

I don't think we had a choice -- the roster rules dictated that. Weren't we required to keep Anderson Hernandez up for a minimum number of days before sending him down again?
  5. As per Cot's Contracts (http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/) Delgado is under contract for '08 with an option for '09 that vests depending on a "point system." He needs 30 points in 05-08 for the option to vest. 10 pts for League MVP, 9 for 2nd, 8 for 3rd, etc. 20 points for WS MVP, 10 for LCS MVP. Delgado currently has 5 of the 30 necessary points, from the 2005 MVP vote. If the option doesn't vest, there is still a $12 million mutual option or a $4 million buyout.
  6. I don't think anybody actually prefers the American League rules, they just are fans of teams that happen to be in that league. Well, maybe Red Sox fans (Ortiz playing the field? Ha.)
  7. Maine 5 Milledge 2 LoDuca 1 Reyes 1 Gotay 1
  8. *Great* game. Felt like one of the better games from last season. Maine = efficent, if not perfect. Totally our ace. Didn't believe the homer was going out until it cleared the fence (by more than a few feet, too). Got the curtain call (only the 2nd curtain call all season at Shea, I believe). Very good crowd, too, especially for a Tuesday vs. the Pirates. Most fun I've had at Shea in a while. #7 train Express back from Shea is a GODSEND! Home by 10:15. --- Re the dancing: I think it's great. Maybe it was a little much, but Reyes has a dance with EVERYBODY. Wright, Beltran, Delgado, Castro, Gomez, etc, etc. It's their thing, it's been going on for a while, it hasn't caused problems. SNY shows it all the time. Making an issue of it with Milledge would seem to be silly.
  9. Only way to get the 10,000 points is to hit some HRs. I could move the bat level simply by moving the mouse up and down. Moving L/R moved the player in the box.
  10. Ex-Pirates on the Mets: Perez, naturally. Also Moises Alou (his first team).
  11. Yancy Street Gang wrote: Let us not forget Jim Leyland's Bonds/Bonilla/Van Slyke Pirates of the early 1990's. They never reached a World Series (although they came very close) but they were the class of the NL East for a few years. I remember they also had some pretty good starting pitching, but the only name that comes to mind right now is Doug Drabek. Bob Walk and John Smiley.
  12. Did manage to complete the thing last night. I found that while I was able to pull the ball at will in the sandlot and little league levels, once I got to the Major League level, I was a complete Julio Franco, with basically nothing going to left field.
  13. Damn you Willets! I'm up to level 8 but can't beat it. Levels 2 and 7 were the hardest so far.
  14. Perez 4.25 Beltran 2.25 Feliciano 1 Wagner 1 Wright 1 Anderson .5
  15. Beltran 2 Wright 2 Mota 1.5 Milledge 1 Castro 1
  16. Heilman 2 Milledge 2 Reyes 2 Feliciano 1 Wagner 1 Wright 1 Ambres 1
  17. The curious thing is that #17 has been handed out liberally but #8 is in semi-retirement now that Carter has reached the HOF. I'm not sure I'd agree that Hernandez' number should be retired, but it certainly would go before Carter's ever would.
  18. With Alou expected to be activated on Tuesday, and Easley coming back from the bereavement list, who goes? One wonders if Sandy Alomar can stave off demotion for a while longer, and Hernandez / Ambres get the boot.
  19. It's almost pointless to carry a backup shortstop, because if the Mets ever lost Reyes they'd be so badly f*cked it wouldn't matter. That, and all but 12 innings this year at SS have been played by Reyes. Gotay has the 12 innings, btw.
  20. It's already retired in Pittsburgh. Greg, who exactly did you have in mind for the Mets to retire?

  22. metirish wrote: I think Omar will trade for a bat, perhaps Sosa. Of course last season the trades for El Duque and Green came after the deadline..... Mota, not El Duque.
  23. Sele 2 Gotay 2 Anderson 2 Wright 1 Castro 1 Reyes 1 Green .5 Beltran .5
  24. Jerry, I think. I thought Gary covered this during one of the games this past week, when they were talking about why Peterson is making the pitching changes. Late games though, can't remember which one.
  25. The answer is Gotay. I'm fine with giving Easley the ABs against righties. Marlon can platoon some with Milledge but I see him primarily as the main LH pinch hitter. Valentin isn't hitting, so he gets the bench. Seriously. Gotay needs to be in the lineup.
