  1. With the bottom of the order up, an extra day of rest before his next start, and a 4 run lead, I thought Willie gave him too quick of a hook. His pitch count was only 102 at that point, too.
  2. I would've pinch hit for Glavine (with Gotay? Anderson? We have good lefty options on the bench). This will bug me more, especially if -- as projected above -- he gets pulled if a single Cub reaches base next inning.
  3. 2 IBBs this inning. Lou relying heavily on the lefty-lefty advantagefor his pitcher.

And disturbing. Glad it worked out I do like that the runners are not afraid to be aggressive. Still perhaps not the best possible play.
  5. Nice double down the line to start the 6th for Milledge. 2 hits, and a walk. Nice.
  6. Morgan just said that Luis Castillo had been playing his whole career in the American League and therefore was unfamiliar with Wrigley. Right, Joe. Except the 7 years he played with Florida. You might recall the two world series champion teams he was on.

  8. That's gonna be 6 weeks. At least.
  9. I was seriously considering keeping track of all the inaccurate and/or stupid things said by Miller and Morgan tonight. Most recently: "Soriano hit 40 homers playing in RFK stadium" (Actually, Jon, he played half his games there, and hit fewer than half his homers there).

From what I've read, he's a hell of a nice guy, and has suffered from some serious medical conditions that he's overcome to still manage broadcasting. Unfortunately, he's absolutely terrible as a broadcaster and should have been let go from that position long ago.

  14. Marmol was a starter last year. I saw him get shelled by the Tigers at Wrigley. Guess he's better off in the 'pen.
  15. I wish you would hold the games open a little longer sometimes. Tuesday's game (in which I just voted (oops!) after it was closed) was open for voting less than 72 hours.

  20. Another Cub loving bigshot: Eddie Vedder. With Pearl Jam in town (playing Lollapalooza) expect him to sing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during one of the three games.
  21. DiFelice was the Met removed from the roster, so that at least suggests that LoDuca is ok enough to play.
  22. Don Sutton.

  24. After reviewing the game, I'd tend to agree. And the offensive contribution is great. Does that still make it a sound strategic decision? Marlon's now up to 50 career CF innings with the 9 he played tonight.
