]Jones is also working on getting a ballpark remnant from the Mets, perhaps a seat or a sign. He'd better be paying the same prices we are. On second thought, I guess we can give him a urinal from the upper deck if he really wants.

We've been through this a few times before -- it's $8 million at issue. The option only vests at $16 million based on MVP and Postseason MVP voting, and Delgado would essentially have to win both NLCS and WS MVPs for that to happen. Otherwise, the option is for $12 million or a $4 million buyout. Hence, keeping Delgado for 2009 will be a decision with $8 million at issue.

Glad to see them finally get some runs in the 8th. Strange that it was the Braves in town in late August but that the game was totally lacking the juice the Braves matchups used to have. Everybody's gone, or hurt -- except Larry, who got his traditional booage, of course. Three years removed since their last division title and a game against them is like playing the Padres. Several Braves fans in our section and they were like any other visiting team's fans. His RBI single notwithstanding, I think I'm ready for Castillo to come back and replace Easley. Ayala wearing #56. Did he displace a coach (Guy Conti?) to get that number?

Let's say that he levels off or even cools off a little more, and winds up with: .250, 30 HR, 95 RBI for the season, .810 OPS. (current: .255, 26 HR, 79 RBI, .825 OPS) I'd still probably sign him for the one year option.

Here's what sticks in my craw right now: 1. When Jerry brought Schoeneweis into the game, he didn't double-switch. Even though the pitcher's spot was due up in the order next. And we're still carrying 3 catchers, so he could've easily lifted Castro from the game without much consequence. 2. Yet then, after removing Schoeneweis from the game (after Scott pitched well), he puts Feliciano (another lefty!) in as the next pitcher. Why couldn't Schoeneweis have stayed in the game? --- The reason this bugs me is that I am convinced that part of the bullpen problems is that he is simply having everybody get up and into the games too frequently. It's ok -- really, I swear -- to have a pitcher go a whole inning.
Gameday has Stokes throwing 8 straight fastballs to Pirates PH Chris Gomez, before Gomez finally singles. It's hard to criticize when watching via gameday, but maybe -- just maybe -- a different pitch once in a while might be a good idea?
