  1. Big win. Keith needs to stop complaining about the press box. I really like that it's above the paying customer's seats. Unfortunately, SNY seems unable to figure out that they should put the camera lower than that spot though. Manny Acta (arguing about the HBP) will feel foolish once he sees that replay.

  5. Gameday says Heilman threw a first pitch fastball to Mientkiewicz -- ball. Then he throws four straight that he fouls off. 1-2 count. But then he throws another two fastballs, both out of the zone. Finally goes to the changeup, and it's ball 4. Umm...earth to Aaron/Robinson Cancel. Maybe when it's 1-2, that's the better time for the changeup?
  6. That's four straight fastballs Mientkiewicz has fouled off, Aaron. Time for the change.
  7. Yeah, but didn't hurt us here. Beer for Duaner once we win.
  8. Misuse has got to play a factor too. With a 4 run lead, why would we use Smith if we were going to pull him at the first sign of trouble? Wouldn't it have been more prudent to use Kunz for a full inning?
  9. According to gameday, David hit that homer off the scoreboard. Anyone watching on TV?
  10. Vic Sage wrote: I like Ramon well enough, and he's hit better over the last few years than I thought he could, but he's just one more aging, creaky player with whom we've got to cut ties after the season. Too bad he's signed through next year too...
  11. We're getting more rain and hail in midtown right now. I hope they didn't start this game too early (requiring another delay).
  12. Wilson predated Castro. Kelly Stinnett in '06.
  13. The CitiField "Fast Facts" page on the Mets website has listed as the first item: "Baseball-only design."
  14. They've drawn surprisingly well for day games this year (paid, at least). Add to the fact that there are plenty of people who didn't know they could exchange/refund their tickets from the rained out game and paid attendance will be closer to 40,000.
  15. They'll play eventually but a delay at the start seems inevitable.
  16. The lack of power beyond cheap singles is maddening at times, but .365 OBP is perfectly acceptable in the #2 hole. Part of me wonders about whether we could put Castillo at 1 and Jose at 2...
  17. For the interleague games? No, there's been no game where the Cubs/White Sox have played each other twice in the same day but in 2 stadiums. The MLB schedule is typically created so that -- like in New York -- the Cubs and White Sox are usually not playing home on the same day. This year, however, the schedule has been a little screwy, and therefore there are some days when both teams are playing (against different opponents) in the same city. I believe there was actually a day in April when the Mets were at Wrigley and the MFYs were at Comiskey.
  18. Maine is scheduled to be activated off the DL for Wednesday's start -- with either Stokes or Eddie Kunz getting sent down. 20. ="G-Fafif"]Oughta Be 23: Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca. I have to disagree with this choice -- and certainly being placed at number 23 (assuming that the significance of the number-puller is inversely proportional to the number being pulled down). I understand the significance of the teams to the Mets, certainly, but at a tribute to Shea? Seems out of place.

  24. Fun game to be at. Murphy did indeed provide the curtain call, a very nice touch. Delgado's home run landed beyond the back fence of the Mets bullpen. Was listed on the scoreboard as 445 feet. Very nice to see Beltran get it going as well. Agree that Reyes could use Monday off.
