  1. Phil Lombardi - Phil Collins? Jeff Musselman - Glenn Frey?
  2. Agreed on the DH rule. Other players who benefited from the DH to pass Mantle: Reggie Jackson Rafael Palmeiro
  3. I wish Howard would've sucked more (the 37 HR and 117 RBI are pretty good). Regardless of the pick, however, check out the decline: 2006: .313 AVG / .425 OBP / .659 SLG 2007: .268 AVG / .392 OBP / .584 SLG 2008: .230 AVG / .322 OBP / .487 SLG

  6. In an interesting development, the other New York team announced its pricing structure today. In addition to offering full season tickets, they are offering 41, 20, 15, 12 and 11 game plans, all with postseason options (although only the 41 game plan has a guaranteed postseason option. Pricing, seating chart, etc. is here:http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/nyy/ballpark/new_stadium_ticket_license_plans.jsp

  8. [/exhales] Perhaps we should be trying someone else as closer.
  9. BELTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
  10. 9th inning. We need 1. LET'S
  11. I too would like to sweep the Brewers to match them in percentage but generally speaking, I would take 7-4 over the 11 games as satisfactory. 6-5 wouldn't really be good enough.
  12. Billy Ashley.
  13. Wayne has grown on me, too. I still dislike the cadence of his voice at times but the observation about his reaction to New York baseball culture seems apt. There's also the "stars burn brighter by comparison" thing. I was in Missouri this past week and it took me only about 3 innings to deem Mike Shannon unlistenable.
  14. I'm confused. I see several references to MLB in this thread, but no indication that this HR count is a product of anyone other than baseball-reference.com.

  19. Just got home to see this. Freakin' bullpen. (Except Heilman).
  20. I think Maine got too many points for his 5 innings on Monday. Shutout or not, I don't think only going 5 innings is worth much more than 2 points. Also, Pelfrey got the perfect 6 on Wednesday not exclusively for his pitching. 1-3 with an RBI was worth about .5 to .75 to go with a ~5.25-5.5 pitching performance.
  21. Maine 2 Evans 1 Wright 1 Beltran 1 Schoeneweis 1 Smith .5 Murphy .5
  22. Martinez 4 Reyes 2 Castro 2 Beltran 1 Feliciano .5 Stokes .5
