  1. BOOKS SWEEP 17
  2. Incredible.
  3. Let's Go Mets!!
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: My guess is that they see the Yankees as one of their tougher remaining opponents I don't think there's any question whatsoever that the Yankees are the single toughest remaining opponent on the schedule. Pitching Harvey in that series is a strategic decision, not a business one. The games are already sold out.
  5. Dodgers kept winning, unfortunately. I want the Blue Jays to get the division, but the one we really care about is having a better record than the Dodgers.
  6. The Mets' website (erroneously?) lists the dates against the Tigers as home games for the Mets.
  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The Mets have lost 40% of the games he's started. Their record in games that he's started isn't significantly better than it is in games started by others. (I do realize that may be more of a reflection on the "others" than on Harvey.) There are 3 additional games that the Mets lost but were not Harvey's fault: 1. There was a 1-0 loss to Atlanta on June 21 2. There was a loss to Chicago on May 13: Harvey left after 7 innings with a 1-0 lead; bullpen gave up 2 runs en route to a 2-1 loss 3. There was a 6-4 loss to Boston on August 28 where Harvey left leading 2-0 after 6 and the game was lost in extras.
  8. Love the chart. I think you are giving Clippard a few years back with his DOB though (2/14/85 according to the Mets)
  9. I have no problem with a magic number thread. It might be duplicative of the NHOP thread but whatever, I still don't see a huge problem with it. Time to get out of the shadow of 2007. That shit's not going to happen again.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: I think they're going to delay any and all such thoughts until they have to. You mean they're going to delay publicly commenting on any such thoughts. They are certainly having thoughts and discussions about it.
  11. Rubin on why Dillon Gee didn't get a call-up: Perhaps more notable was who did not get summoned. Right-hander Dillon Gee, who went 8-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 14 starts with Las Vegas after clearing waivers and getting demoted, was not invited to return. Gee had some harsh words behind the scenes for Mets execs about his treatment after getting banished to the minors, which probably cost him. He has the right to declare free agency shortly after the World Series, well before he would be non-tendered by the Mets on Dec. 2 anyway. I am having a tough time seeing why Gee would not be considered as a replacement for a Niese start, or as extra bullpen help, particularly if Carlos Torres is hurt. Gee had a 1.67 ERA in his final 4 starts with Las Vegas.

  13. Bunting is for losers Losers
  14. Lefty Specialist wrote: I would have left Goeddel in to pitch to Harper. Need length from the bullpen. Especially given there was 2 outs and nobody on, and a righty up next. Seems like an unnecessary change.
  15. Vegas just got eliminated from playoffs. I say Gee gets Niese's next scheduled start. Give Jon some rest/time to think.
  16. Forget the playoffs, I'm not convinced Niese makes his next scheduled start.
  17. We saw Germen against us when we faced the Rockies recently. I had no chance at the backup catchers. Jason Pridie is the big surprise.
  18. Dale Thayer? I agree that there should be some other backup catchers but their names are eluding me right now.
  19. Dodgers are not losing very many games these days. Mets are 2 games back for home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
  20. Chen made 2 starts for Cleveland this year according to Baseball-reference.com
  21. I'm running out of relievers here. I think I remember that Bruce Chen finally retired this year. Did he pitch in the majors for someone this year? Maybe Kansas City? or Minnesota?
