  2. Diamondbacks had runners and second and third with one out and couldn't score. 2-1 Washington in the 5th.
  3. I won't miss these periodic mental gaffes when Murphy is gone from the Mets next year.
  4. Nymr83 wrote: It's 7-0 after 5, if Harvey is on any kind of innings limit following Tommy John surgery, should he be yanked here? I wouldn't let him go far but also he only has 67 pitches with one out in the 6th.
  5. HUGE hit for Lagares!!!
  6. One hit here for insurance, Juan. Just need one.
  7. I was just saying that I found it strange that Campbell was the first bat off the bench.
  8. WTF, Terry? Bunting is for losers. Also, since no one on the team can actually do it properly, stop calling for it please.
  9. I wonder about running for Lucas here.
  10. Diamondbacks just tied it up against Scherzer.
  11. Fman99 wrote: That was a great slide and nice traffic directing by Niese to signal him to slide towards that side of home plate. Ron was praising Niese for that on the broadcast; reminds me why he's such a good analyst.
  12. Can't believe Angel Hernandez didn't screw us on that call.
  13. It's not exactly a new guy. Al Avila is taking over; he's been Dombrowski's #2 for quite a while.
  14. Arizona wins. Thanks, Brad Ziegler.
  15. Bullpen meltdown in progress for Arizona. 4 runs in and the Nationals have the tying run up in the 9th.
  16. Also, Arizona out to an early 1-0 lead on the Nationals.

  18. Buster Olney's column today (only first two paragraphs are in front of the ESPN insider paywall). "It was largely the passion of Mets fans -- their declared frustration, their anger -- that drove their team's front office to make key changes in Queens." Lucas Duda has clubbed nine homers in the past eight games; the golden-armed Noah Syndergaard seems hes been transformed out of a comic book; and the ebullient Juan Uribe is exactly the right player at the right time for the New York Mets. But anybody who watched or experienced what happened at Citi Field in recent days knows that not one of those players is the real star in the Mets surge to first place. No, the agents of changes for the Mets occupy the seats -- their fans, who have emerged from a restless hibernation and have shaken off their perpetual grumpiness to drive a team suddenly filled with hope, a team now in a virtual tie with Washington for first place after a sweep of the Nationals.
  19. I didn't write that.
  20. 3 games against these sad-sack Marlins and we even don't have to face Fernandez? They should sweep. Winning fewer than 2 is unacceptable.
  21. Why are you presuming he was even educated in the first place?
  22. Fantastic game. No, Citi Field doesn't shake, and probably never will. It does get loud though, and it was revelation to see this kind of crowd at an August game in this park. Fans had lots of fun taunting Harper as the game went on. I also enjoyed the "you are out" chant while Lobaton stood around at first base waiting for the umpires to finish the video review. Mets now selling a great merchandise item: a foam Hammer, with 34 on one side and the Mets logo on the other. I was also encouraged to see people walking around with Cespedes 52 shirts already.
