  3. =Ceetar post_id=75904 time=1630289412 user_id=102] SAndy could've just let it be with this tweet from Kevin an hour prior to his statement.
  4. Buehler has been moved back to Friday. Dodgers throwing a “bullpen game” tonight.
  5. Attn Luis Rojas: Under these idiotic rules, the correct strategy is for the visiting team to play for 2 runs, not 1. Please adjust accordingly. Thanks for your cooperation. How come we know that but the Manager, the Bench Coach, and the 6 or so other Coaches on the bench don't? No one told him, "Maz can't bunt" and "Maz is a good contact hitter and a lefty". This is possibly the most infuriating thing about Rojas. I know we've discussed that there are components to managing that we can't possibly see or know, and for all I know Luis Rojas is great at them. (One interpretation of the is season is that the Mets are a subpar team, but through a slew of injuries, Rojas kept the team afloat/overachieving for far longer than one would otherwise expect). But on some black letter strategic choices, he is not good. And too often we are first-guessing those choices. We know they're bad choices either before or as they are happening, and the fact that it persists is inexplicable.

  8. Playing for one run in the top of the 10th is a fool's errand.
  9. I get the sense that most of his tweets are meant to commiserate, eg. “How can we get so unlucky with the rain” or “how does everyone slump at once” or “how do all these injuries pile up at once?” This one seems to be going a bit farther, although I don't see it as a big problem.
  10. I admit to actually leaving Citi Field early tonight. First time in maybe 7 years that's happened. This is putrid.
  11. Great that we couldn't use Pillar to hit since we had to save him for use out of the pen.
  12. =roger_that post_id=74628 time=1629075409 user_id=128] Alonso didn't think that last one was a strike. Neither did I. Where did this pinstripes-on-the-bottom and bright-blue-tops come from? It looks like something the cat puked up
  13. I don't care how short the bench is, if Carrasco is coming out of the game you at least put up Megill or Stroman or someone who can swing a bat. Period.
  14. Do we think Luis pinch hits for Jake Reed here? Or nah?
  15. He took Carrasco out Anyway!!! WTF Luis? Where is the pinch hitter?
  16. This is a must win game.
  17. It's not shocking that a guy that's had to hire scummy lawyers twice to "settle" workplace harassment cases Why would you put the word settle in quotes? Are you unsure how lawsuits, and particularly employment discrimination lawsuits work? “Scummy” lawyers is also a giveaway that you're pushing an unsupported agenda here.
  18. =Ceetar post_id=73157 time=1627870371 user_id=102] they still pissed away the overcap money
  19. Rojas double switches so Smith is available to pitch multiple innings. But then after one successful, scoreless inning, he pulls Smith anyway. It's all academic since the Mets have not shown a great ability to score runs, but bullpen management sure has been a head-scratcher this year.
  20. In the fifth, Mets were down 6-0 but strung together 5 straight hits against Ryu. Runners on first and second, 1 out, and the Blue Jays pull Ryu for the righty. McNeil and Conforto are both on the bench as lefties. At the time, I considered it and figured it would have been too early to go to a matchup-based pinch hitter. But then Davis and McCann both struck out and that was last best chance to win.
  21. =LWFS post_id=72435 time=1627102209 user_id=84] Bryce, by default, maybe? It's tough. None of them seem to be especially dickish (or trolling nearly as hard) as some of our favorite friends of the past. I mean, I dislike the lowball long-term-lockdown-favoring, white-flight-courting, Wahoo-loving organization-- and, to an extent, some of the fans-- more than I do any of the players. Love me some Acuna and Albies. Swanson is just kinda there. Even FF Freeman is okay with me.
  22. Maybe it's not nice to pile on given that it's been a tough weekend, but Howie is out this weekend and Ed Coleman is on. And Ed Coleman is not a good play-by-play announcer. Almost makes me long for the return of Wayne Hagin.
  23. =Ceetar post_id=71426 time=1626392591 user_id=102] Martino is not a doctor and is not bound by Hipaa. neither, btw, are the Mets, MLB, or any employer.
  24. Lefty Specialist wrote: Meh. Hate them. Always have. Always will. Black is not a Met color. Correct. I don't care what colors they sell at the team store, but not on the field, thanks.
  25. Great development as Manfred tells reporters that the extra runner in extra innings and the 7 inning doubleheader are not long for this world:
