i have no idea what to expect from this guy. Edgy - could we create a thread that indexes (links to) all the "expectations" threads and pin it either here or in the predictions archives?
why don't they just play "home run derby" to decide it? any pitcher or coach on your own team can pitch to any batter of your choice. 20 pitches. most HRs wins.

Yes exactly G-fafif. the idea sucks and if you let it happen in the minors without protest it could soon be coming to an MLB park near you! i dont care what they do in WBC - that is an exhibition tournament where the primary goal should be "no injuries"
Is there anyone who thinks Wright plays ever again? I'm not saying he should walk away or anything like that because he has a lot of money guaranteed to him and deserves to collect it but it would be nice of him the Mets and the insurance company could just figure stuff out without continuing the rehab charade and the use of a 40 man spot

How does a day game get you out of dinner?
I probably would have visited Bill but, being a teenager for most of his time in office, I would have asked "Bill, how did you get them all to blow you?" ... With absolutely no political intent behind the question.

The hostile fans would have been equally hostile and the reasonable fans would still have been saying "show me the roster on opening day" - I SERIOUSLY doubt that Alderson feels any pressure to time transactions in such a way so as to appease fans unhappy with spending.

I would much rather be the team getting the steal of a Lynn deal, but i would have signed up for Arrieta too. The money is Wilpons not mine so wtf do i care if he gets 20 or 25 mil? I care mostly about length of deals - if this guy doesn't live up to the hype, how long are we stuck with him? 3 years at age 32 doesn't seem too long here.

3 against one is hardly fair. I could take any random group of 3 pitchers with past success and say the same - but you arwnt going to find out WHICH of the 3 is going to be better until long after you have made roster decisions. Arrieta is individually better than any of them. I would sign him tomorrow and send down Matz if he has options. Cut Harvey if Matz is out of options.
yeah, the draft pick compensation basically fucks the 2% or so of players who are good enough to get offered the contract that triggers it by the original team but aren't good enough to make other teams think "who fucking cares about draft picks, i signed THIS guy" hopefully a condition of the new deal is "you can't use that shit on me again"
