    nice to have venezuela or dominican republic out of the finals if you're usa/japan/korea. i'm rooting for cuba to make it past puerto rico (even though i like pr) because want them eliminated by the americans.

    lol. last week they asked the easiest "final jeopardy" question ever, so easy in fact that i didnt think it deserved to be a question at all, except maybe in the teen tournament: the only line spoken in latin (3 words) in Shakespeare's Julius Ceasar.... you've got 2 of the 3 words above yeah this is offtopic but your post made me think of that and laugh back to your regularly scheduled (by bret) willie bashing...

    I'm not doubty he is "shaky" but Nady is older, just as shaky, and doesn't have the excuse of having started playing the position recently.

    that Lazo guy for Cuba looks pretty good....but why the hell would they leave him in with a 5-run lead when doing so removes him from the rest of the 2nd round (due to pitch limit rules)??

    the forum gets clutterred very fast with an IGT and two different voting systems going on for every game... if we're going to do the "Poll-vote" can i suggest that it either be put in the same thread as the schaeffer or edited into the IGT after the game?

    This book probably should have waited until Schurholtz retired but whatever, I hope it hurts his bargaining somewhere, somehow.

Whatever. yes, undeservedly DOES include "makes more money" because thats not a good reason to play someone, but what i really meant was that Diaz is the superior hitter and thats all there is to it. I don't care who bret does or does not like i just think Diaz is better than Nady and the only reason Nady is considered ahead of him is because of what the Mets gave up to get him.

    I think they were so bad for 4 years ('01, '02, '03, '04) because they built their roster to win with veterans in '98, '99, and '00 and were pretty succesful. i can't fault them for making another go at it in '01 it would be insane to rebuild the year after making the world series and the '01 team wasn't really that bad they were 2 september blown saves against atlanta from the division. they paid the price for overextendking themselves and having all these veterans around in '02 and it took them until last year to rebuild, which is fine, i wish the knicks would follow a similiar model.

    Minaya definetaly has self-interest in seeing Nady do well, which is why Nady is undeservedly ahead of Diaz on the depth chart to start the spring, but i see no reason to believe that will continue if Nady doesnt play well.
