  1. i'd assume whoever originally asked the question was going by players who had enough ABs to qualify fo the batting title, your best bet would be to go through the league leaders year by year

  3. i just checked on Olerud, he never did it unless you count his ".375" (3 hits in 8 ABs) in 1989.
  4. 200+ steals in the past 4 years for the devil rays, he's got some pop in his bat too as his HR total has steadily risen every year and he'll only be 25 this season.
  5. ten guesses: Suzuki, Olerud, Brett, Gwynn (three times), Walker, Helton, Garciaparra, Martinez (Edgar)
  6. i've never liked wikipedia much for that reason, all of someone's hard and accurate work can easily be replaced by someone who is lying or even someone who wants to say the same thing but thinks his way of saying it is better
  7. probably not. neither guy helps you in wins, sometimes a reliever has fluke year with lots of wins but theres absolutely no way of predicting who that will be, wins are random enough for starters, for relievers they are almost a total crapshoot. dotel, as long as he is the closer, will help you in saves (which linebrink won't), both should help your era/whip a little or at least not hurt it. they should be about equal in k's as well. so as long as dotel is picking up saves he's more valuable, if dotel stops getting saves you should try to find a new closer, if you cant do that only then would i go to a middle reliever (who are dead weight in 2 of 5 pitching categories and only marginally helpful in the other 3 do to their limited innings)
  8. yeah but he might also have a "gee i'd better go start for the Twins now that the Mets have told me to accept the trade or ride the pine behind milledge" feeling.

Wright could be hitting .150 in August and he won't get booed I'll go with Orlando "el-yankee" Hernandez on the theory that ex-yankees will get booed loud and fast the moment they suck.
  10. the Bonds circus will go away when he retires, resurface around the time he is eligible to be inducted into the hall, and then finally leave us alone after he gives his speach.
  11. they just let the rats lick it
  12. Some are saying that Reyes is ready to make the leap to superstardom this season some would say he already made it. i'd say the bigger question is regardless of what you call it, can he repeat last year's huge leap in production?
  13. i like francis and i'd love the guy if he found a way out of pitcher hell. i hope padilla crashes and burns along with the rest of the phillies, but i'm content to keep him in there until that happens as i expect Duke to step things up.
  14. the tag has been removed, gee i wonder who could have done that?
  15. you look strong, my biggest concerns would be the health of both your closers (along with the chances of the repeatedly rumored benitez trade to happen) and the reliability of some of your hitters (rivera, alou, podsednik who you are really counting on in steals) you should probbly eagerly pounce on any closer that becomes available even if you have to give up waiver priority. i'd also keep brian wilson onyour watch list and add him the moment there seems to be an issue with benitez.
  16. well did you miss his lack of closers? with 13 teams thats 130 points that everyone can shoot for... except steve who is shooting at only 118 to start with, and i just don't think his offense is more than average (an "average" offense producing 6-8 points in a each category) at best while his starting pitching might be strong, but lets not count on the randy-revival just yet.
  17. yahoo says: ]The New York Mets announced on Monday that Sanchez fractured a small bone in the front of his right shoulder and will be sidelined at least two months.well that beats all year, but at this point he's gotta be lumped in with pedro under "if you get anything out of him thats greatbut dont count on it"
  18. really? i'd put him last unless he gets some closers, if you dump saves (or any category) you need to be STRONG (to the point of 1st or 2nd) in all the other categories, and i'm definetaly not seeing that with him.
  19. ]3. Yes, "politically correct" is an ideology-neutral term... there are, in fact, overzealous, humorless arbiters of appropriate conduct and speech on both ends of the spectrum. So whose... i mean, WHAT end do you emerge from? i don't disagree, but the "pc police" (the people who complain about word choice) on THIS board are of the liberal variety.
  20. ]What's the fun in that you goat-fucking ass prancer? yeah! get your tongue out of bret's butt! ]So lets all relax, and address the very valid opinion that Omar sounds like a moron, and listening him is mind-numbing.i addressed that in my first post on the topic, but mr. disruption apparently thought otherwise
  21. ]Fans AGainst Our Top guyS i got yelled at by the liberal pc police last time i used that word.
  22. i doubt the Mets care about the million dollars or so they are paying him. its all about the roster spot.
  23. that trailer was awesome and i can't wait for the movie (along with spiderman 3.) marvel has really tapped into a goldmine these last few years.
  24. his spot should be in jeoprady, i have no idea whether it is. ask ira though, he seems to think that the organizations exact plans must be laid bare to the public and the competition.
  25. which makes more sense when you have a 5th starter with options left, the only reson to carry 5 before you need them is if theres an options issue
