  1. ]Personally I think he should have gone hard after both of them The Mets went hard after Matuzaka. It was BLIND bid, and given past bids a bid that should have seemed to the Mets likely to prevail.
  2. Edgy DC wrote: Is that Keef with a cold in the booth? Carlos Delgado bunts until further notice in my world. Enough with these jive-ass defensive alignments. i'd have tried it there, he's not hitting well and a bunt single is as good as any other hit in this situation.
  3. forgot that
  4. fuck. rally over
  5. JOSE, JOSE, JOSE, JOSE... its 8-4 now
  6. ="Kid Carsey"]ny: >>>theres no 20/20 hindsight needed here<<< I'm not being hindsighted, I'm just saying so it doesn't sound like I'm needlessly piling on. i know, i was saying that nobody can acuse us of 20/20 hindsight here
  7. If any Beltran/Alou/Green went down I'd call up Milledge and start him in their place. If Delgado went down I'd move Green to 1B and call up Milledge to start in RF. If Valentin/Reyes went down I'd start Easley and call up Gotay to be a backup infielder If Wright went down I'd call upon Fernando Tatis and I'd start him. If LoDuca went down I'd panic, because i couldn't name another catcher on the 40-man and Castro shouldn't start EVERY day If a starter goes down I like Sosa, Vargas, then Humber with the caveat that if the injury looks long-term I'd be more inclined to go to Humber (he's the only 1 of the 3 i see as a longterm starter with the Mets so I'm in no hurry to bounce him up and down for a week or two.)
  8. yeah most of us railed on him when he was acquired, theres no 20/20 hindsight needed here.
  9. Is he going to take one for the team here? might as well leave him in and save the bullpen, unless you'd like to see Sele go 5 as an audition.
  10. inning (finally) over its 5-0 Marlins.
  11. 5 runs all with 2 outs and bases empty
  12. Delgado and Wright are utterly lost at the plate right now.
  13. 4- Orlando Hernandez 1- Tom Glavine, Moises Alou, Scott Schoenweis, Howard Johnson (1B coach)
  14. what are they going to do? hit him with a pitch when he's pinch-hitting later in the season? i'll take the free baserunner.
  15. I'd hardly consider Chacon a jewish name, and Aaron hardly sounds italian
  16. I gave Aaron nothing, all he did was come in and cause alot of trouble which Schoenweis got him out of. edit- also, i'm still annoyed at him for not being jewish with a name like that.
  17. Maine 6 Beltran 2.5 Wagner .75 Franco .5 Schoenweis .25
  18. http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=270429120
  19. I gave Franco a half point today for the great defensive play on the bunt, figured i'd mention it here for any voters who didnt see the game beacuse it won't be in the boxscore,
  20. Julio Franco in the post game interview just used one of my least favorite cliches "they've got a pretty good ballclub." If The Nationals are "pretty good" then I'd like to ask him who is bad, or even who is average.
  21. If Palmiero can win a GG for DHing can Franco win one for the best play a first baseman will make all year?
  22. Glavine 2 Franco 1.5 Beltran 1.5 Feliciano 1 Sele 1 Wright 1 Reyes .5 Green .5 Schoenweis .5 Smith .5
  23. Alou 2.5 Green 1 Valentin 1 Reyes 1 LoDuca 1 Wright 1 Delgado .5 Perez 1.5 Smith .5
  24. ]What's more valuable to the team: the run-scoring potential of that at-bat or the run-saving potential of another inning or so of Perez? They built this team on the bullpen and just had a night off. i was extremely mad about this same issue. and i think this is an often unheralded part of home field advantage...if it had been the BOTTOM of the 6th i think most managers gladly lift the guy having gotten 6 out of him already, in the TOP of the 6th they only got 5 out of him so they leave him in. of course that may just mean that being at home helps protect you from this particular form of bad management.
  25. Alou doubles in a run and he's the tying run at 2nd!
