  1. Francesa was just talking to a caller about Joba not coming in last night and kept calling it the "Joba rule" that the organization told Torre he's not allowed in 2 straight games no matter what
  2. ]Koufax gives him a run for his money, though. the disparity in GS/IP is too much to suggest that Koufax had a better career, even if he had what was arguably the best "peak" ever.
  3. Gwreck wrote: We need somebody right handed off the bench without Easley. What about Craig Monroe, recently DFAed by the Tigers? player-coach Rickey Henderson is probably already lobbying.
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: Sean and Marlon demand your apology. get back to me when Shawn's numbers resemble an outfielder's instead of a light-hitting catcher's.
  5. listen to the applause as Green makes it 4-2, are there any Nationals fans in attendance? because it sounds like a subdued version of Shea! the "lets go mets" chant is now clearly audible!
  6. IGTs have been dead this week.
  7. i have no idea, it just came up on a google image search
  8. this came up when i searched for ("jose reyes" mets) it's not him, but i think we can keep it.
  9. ]Green 1b Milledge rf Anderson lf Alomar Jr. c yuck.
  10. ]JW Booth bobblehead day? That's just wrong. when is Bobblehead Osama?
  11. Johnny Dickshot wrote: I just want it on record that I advocated Omar get a reliable reliever and a RH bench bat at the deadline. Now we need both. Easley's injury couldn't be predicted, we needed the reliever then and still do now. 10 days of Flores and Alomar may make us want to see if Piazza can get through waivers
  12. Milledge struck out looking on a close pitch that looked low, keith said that he should swing because "when you're new to the league you've gotta earn a reputation to get the close ones." While I agree that you should swing at anything close with 2 strikes, I find the idea tha the zone should be different (or that the umpire should rely on the batter's reaction to the pitch) to be utter bullshit.
  13. Lannan's first big league hit gives them the lead. this kinda stuff seems to always happen to the mets
  14. Brandon Webb extended his scoreless innings streak to 42 with a shutout tonight, its the longest streak since Hershiser's record 59 in 1988.
  15. ]Everything's not measured in fantasy baseball terms. it wasn't a good outing, and he certainly didn't "skunk" them, whats that have to do with fantasy baseball? ](oh, wait, I can't say anything negative to you ... sorry) huh?
  16. ]Best jersey on the way back: a Doug Meintkiewicz road jersey Mets? Yankees? Twins?
  17. Easley goes deep! anyone in attendance from the cpf tonight?
  18. i'm actually pretty suprised after all the money they just gave to Soriano, Ramirez, and Lilly.
  19. he's the best without a doubt.
  20. ]Verlander skunked them last night 6.1 ip, 3 runs, left with a runner on in a 7-3 game, he threw i think 120 pitches... he wasn't that good.
  21. Edgy DC wrote: Steroids aside, voting Sosa over McGwire for MVP in 1998 was a bad vote. there was a .200 OPS difference between them (in Big Mac's favor) and yet McGwire got only 2 votes (i assume the 2 STL writers) to Sosa's 30. as for McGwire vs Bagwell, McGwire has a 13 point OPS+ advantage, while being the inferior defender and baserunner by a wide margin. His 16 year career was only 1874 games while Bagwell played 15 years and 2150 games, It wasn't until his final season that Bagwell missed significant time to an injury. I'd go with Bagwell, but its very close.
  22. Steve Somers said the other day that if you listened to WFAN callers you would think the Mets are in last place.
  23. I think the andro acts as a red-herring for McGwire, misleading people into thinking "oh, ok, he just took this legal over the counter thing, thats how he got so big" when the reality is he did everything that Bonds, Palmiero, Canseco, Sheffield, etc. did. I wouldnt keep him out of the hall without a failed test (or federal conviction etc) of something that was illegal at the time he did it. ]He was asked a question under oath, and he refused to answer it while speaking glibly around the issue. It's not a test of public opinion, but a test of honesty about his own use of steroids. i don't think thats true. its a test of how strongly his lawyer told him not to answer questions that he didnt have to answer.
  24. Trammell in mind is better than 2 if not 3 or 4 currently enshrined shortstops- Ozzie Smith and Phil Rizzuto for sure, probably PeeWee Reese, and i'm probably missing some guys.
  25. ="Edgy DC"]This weekend. We have about 15. Foks who sent it directly from simpsonizeme.com, instead of downloading and e-mailing me, I'm not sure who I've got. I know most of you by handle and not e-mail address and some of these likeness are more obvious than others.) Let me know who you sent by posting the first part of your e-mail and the met you made. Such as I'm andyt23 and I sent you Charlie Samuels. Also, soup turned in an excellent Willie in a nicely photoshopped Mets jersey and cap. Should I upload these as is, or turn them over to soup, who has volunteered to dress the others? my email was titled "pedro martinez simpsonized" i'll assume you figured it out
