  1. we've been through all this before
  2. i'd have no problem with that, as longas the formula was a good one and not "highest SLG% wins" or something
  3. ]Sunday, October 7 12:00 3:30 7:00 TBA * - on TNT the Jets play the Giants at 1:00, I'd think both NY teams want to avoid the 12 and 330 slots but that means one of them is on at "TBA" which is likely 10pm on the west coast. that could be the mets playing sunday night in san diego?
  4. ]I disagree that a player on a last-place team lacks the value of a player offering the same performance on a first-place team i think theres some, though not much, merit to the argument that the guy who helped his team reach the playoffs did it under tougher pressure than the guy who was in last place... though that works equally well against the guy who ran away with his division. i'm willing to say that "playoff team" should be something of a tiebreaker, but a clearly better season shouldnt be disregarded because the team didn't finish well.
  5. ]Both J-Roll and Da Prince of Milwaukee just slid into the MVP race lead tonight, and it REALLY pains me to say this, but Rollins, whether the Phils make the post or not, is going to win this award. Why? Because Rollins is the first player in major league history to have at least 200 hits, 15 triples, 25 homers and 25 steals in the same year so what? a walk is as good as a single, 200 hits is way overrated. triples are nice, but a homerun is better and plenty of guys have hit 40 homers, so theres really nothing that special about 25 homers and 15 triples together either.

  7. he shouldn't be there when they give out the award
  8. ]]Nymr83 wrote: a 1-game playoff round is too un-baseball-like for me. its different when 2 teams tie in the regular season because then we're just playing a 163rd regular season game To me this is very similar to the play-in game for tied teams, only it's a play-in game for the two top non-winners. No division winner is being made to jump through another hoop, nor is the post-season being extended for another half-week which it would be with a 2-of-3. its not to me, because the 163rdgame 1-game playoff can ONLY occur when two teams have exactly the same record, in which case i find it fair to have them play one more game to break that tie
  9. a 1-game playoff round is too un-baseball-like for me. its different when 2 teams tie in the regular season because then we're just playing a 163rd regular season game, but to have the 93-69 WC team play 1 game against the 82-80 WC team is a bit silly to me. the playoffs are fine how they are imo, but if i were to make a change i'd cut each league down to 2 divisions and THEN have a 2nd wildcard.
  10. ]I'd put more stock in those predictions if a) Gwynn had ever won an MVP what the heck does that have to do with it?
  11. i feel like the umping has been worse this year than in the past, but i can't put my finger on how or why, so maybe i've just felt that way every year and don't remember as well. certainly the mets don't have that one "the umps screwed us big time" moment like the game where asshole hernandez supposedly told franco he had a plane to catch in atlanta
  12. ]...[Willie] has never been held in the same esteem as other successful managers ... since when is he a "successful manager"? his first season they won the division with basically no competition. joe shmoe could have coached the team, it didn't matter. and they lost to an 82-80 team in the playoffs. good job willie! this year he is presiding over a potentially historic collapse.
  13. why -60? why not -80? (which is what i've been told "replacement level" is) otherwise the concept is a good one
  14. i love the new avatar Zvon, Mr. Met should definitely stop shaving
  15. this is nothing, in my league for $$ the top 4 teams are each between 77 and 74 points right now and 1st place changes daily.
  16. testing avatar.
  17. MARLON ANDERSON SAVES THE SEASON! (well maybe not but WOW!)
  18. Milledge ejected and physically restrained by Rickey and Willie.
  19. ="holychicken"](does best completely offensive Zvon impression) Say hello to the future mascot of the New York Jewtropolitians! i may want to clean this up a bit and make it my avatar, is that ok with you chicken?
  20. Yancy Street Gang wrote: You're saying that if there was a ballclub called the New York Jews, and they had this guy on their cap, you'd buy and wear such a cap? lame picture, but i'm down with the general idea. color would be a good start. and longer pais.
  21. The project is so complicated -- and casting dependent -- that even those deeply involved in the project are holding their breath until production begins. Theyre working very hard to get it to happen, said one party close to the project. But there are so many characters its complicated. what makes this any more complicated or difficult than the X-men movies or Fantastic Four?
  22. Chief Wahoo is awesome. I wouldn't find a similiar jewish guy to be offensive, heck I'd be the first to buy the "Rabbi Chaim" logo hat. People need to get over themselves and just enjoy it.
  23. Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does... J/K
  24. put me back on ALL the hats!
