  1. nicce dive by david wright, lets score before the Rex Ryan show starts and I switch channels.
  2. the Braves lose Robinson Lopez, Tyrelle Harris, and Jeffrey Lorick. Lopez was 18th, a C+ prospect, in Sickel's pre-season Braves rankings. The others didnt make his list
  3. I doubt it means a thing. Are potential FAs really likely to steer clear of the Mets because they believe the other 29 ownerships will let them punch guys in the head in family room and do nothing? No matter how this turns out it'll be viewed as an isolated incident, not a trend. Agreed, its not like they are trying to void him for a reason that other players might be sympathetic too like showing up at camp 50 lbs. overweight or even playing basketball (Aaron Boone). The Boone incident hasn't stopped free agents from taking the Yankees' money.

If the Yankees had tried to void Juan Rivera for stealing Jeter's glove he would have been applauding them for it.
  5. I'd like to see all the guys in the bullpen pitch based on matchups, not innings. So if lefty-righty-lefty-lefty are the 4 guys due up in the 6th, or the 9th, feliciano gets the call. if the 3-4-5 hitters are due up in the 8th, you put your best reliever (whoever you think that is at the time) in for the 8th, instead of saving him for the 9th oh and i would LOVE to see the mets push the contract issue, even if it ends poorly (him still getting paid)
  6. Outfielder Jeff Francoeur supported the team's decision to play the rookie Tejada: "Tejada's below average stats shouldn't reduce his playing time. He's made so many outs already, you know that he's due for a hot streak. The more outs a player makes, the more likely that his next at bat will be a hit. We can't afford to miss out on Tejada's next hits now that the pennant race is heating up" when i read this i was expecting to see a link not to The Post , but to The Onion
  7. what about the word "pussy"? could octopussy ever be the title of anything today?
  8. Tejada has superior range and, especially if you've given up on the season, you'd like to see him get some ABs to help you determine how high a priority the position should be in the offseason
  9. You linked to Breitbart so I question whether this film has been digitally manipulated to make Bo look bad. the link came from the blog post that was bitching about Dibble that someone else posted, who is breitbart? never mind i googled him. clearly he edited out the part where the d-bad kissed the girlfriend's arm and made it all better.

ROAD taunts? please, if i'm ever there when he pitches again (which considering that i dont think he will past this year and i'll only be at one more game is unlikely) i'll be taunting him myself
  11. Astros fan runs and hides from big scary foul ball while it hits his girlfriend in the arm, injuring her http://www.breitbart.tv/worst-boyfriend-ever-girlfriend-gets-hit-by-line-drive-as-boyfriend-leaps-out-of-way/

    K-Rod

from cbs News: New York Mets reliever Francisco Rodriguez is in custody after what police called a "physical assault" on a family member at Citi Field. Police say Rodriguez will be charged with third-degree assault. Police say the incident occurred after the Mets' 6-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. Police did not say which family member Rodriguez scuffled with -- reports are it was his father-in-law -- but said the unidentified man had minor injuries. The Mets confirmed there was an incident between Rodriguez and his family, and referred all questions to the police
  13. lets sign him this offseason when nobody wants him... league minimum for 3 years, with innings pitched incentives for 2012 and 2013 worth lots of money
  14. Why would a team take on the back end of a contract when they didn't enjoy the benefits of the front end ask the Mets re: Bonilla
  15. i don't think its a "demerit"... he was smart to give him one year knowing he wouldnt be stuck if it didnt work out (see: oliver perez). i liked the Moises Alou contract for the same reason... its hard to go wrong on a one year deal for a guy who is proven to be good when healthy
  16. was pulled by Buffalo tonight after 5 scoreless and only 55 pitches according to Adam Rubin... welcome back to the bigs?
  17. Pelf needs to be a beast like that every time out, he's not some noodle-armed Pedro, 120 pitches is fine for him
  18. If he's not coming here, I wouldn't mind seeing him in Seattle. They are a team that I don't mind rooting for as they've provided me with one of my favorite baseball memories. (...Edgar Martinez with a double ripped down the left field line, and they are going crazy at the Kingdome!!)
  19. mmmmm frosting

    I Give Up

this season ran into a BRICK WALL after the all-star break where i was feeling good. west coast trips = death for the Mets
  21. Hey, they listened! maybe theres hope for Omar yet?
  22. As I mentioned on the league message board (in response to several teams asking for a closer) I am going to trade Capps. I've already received an offer I think is fair and will accept it tonight if I don't have a better offer by then. I just don't want the other contenders to be upset that they never had a chance or didnt know he was available. So if you need a closer, offer now.
  23. Huge 15 year gap between Ott & Williams. Biggest one since was the nearly 10 years after Schmidt and before Murray How much of that gap can you attribute to the war though? Williams likely hits #500 in 1955, if not sooner, if he had never served. Maybe Greenberg finds his way to 500 around 1950, given 3.5 years back from the war and then extending his career a few years to reach the milestone. Ditto Dimaggio. Musial missed only one season to the war, and was 25 homers short of 500 (but hadn't really become a HR hitter yet by the season he missed, 1945)
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He'll probably also be fired at the end of the season. Few heads would roll as efficiently as Mr. Met's. come on Zvon, this is begging for some photoshop...
  25. very good job by GYC!
