  1. is it opening day yet? its that boring time of the sports year.
  2. Capuano is kind of guy the Mets should be taking a chance on. Ok, Fine, I just like looking at his wife.
  3. my 2012 ballot: YES -- larkin, raines, bagwell BORDERLINE -- E.Martinez, Tramell, Walker CLOSE, BUT NO -- Morris, Lee, Murphy, McGriff NO -- Gonzo, BWilliams and every other newly elibigible player PEDs -- McGwire, Palmiero (my criteria: admission, positive test, Mitchell report, or other evidence, not mere rumors) I up Trammell to the "yes" list and say no to Walker (as well as everyone you said no too), i really dont know if i want Edgar in there. No to all the newly eligible players, the closest to me are Bernie Williams and Tim Salmon Bolded who i would vote for below 2013: B. Bonds, R. Clemens, S. Sosa, M. Piazza, C. Biggio, C. Schilling, K. Lofton 2014: G. Maddux, T. Glavine, J. Kent, F. Thomas, M. Mussina, L. Gonzalez 2015: R. Johnson, P. Martinez, J. Smoltz, G. Sheffield, N. Garciaparra, C. Delgado Guys like Lofton and Sheffield deserve consideration, but with those superstar classes they may have to wait. Are there also other guys who will build up on the ballot? (guys of the caliver of those who are currently waiting?) Next year is the last chance in awhile for the current carry-over ballot I'd imagine, I think Larkin gets in easily and thats uiit

  5. His argument is only "valid" if he wants to extend it to ALL players and say that nobody from the steroid era gets in because they're all either users or accomplices. Does he want to make that leap? Or just take this lame excuse to not vote for Bagwell?
  6. If I were the Royals I'd tell Grienke to suck it, he has them but a no-trade clause to half of MLB in his contract and now he's demanding one?
  7. http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11022905&cp=1452359.1452839.1665492 I want one.
  8. coming late to the party here... I'd put these guys in... Roberto Alomar Jeff Bagwell Bert Blyleven Barry Larkin Tim Raines Alan Trammell and I'd want more time to think about McGwire, Walker and E.Martinez
  9. Did Dunn sign somewhere yet? (I'm less focussed on baseball this offseason than I ever have been befoere, part of why I haven't been around here much lately) if not I'd have to see what he eventually gets before I decide how dumb i think the Nationals are. he is 2 years younger than Werth though, so i have a feeling his deal comes out looking better.
  10. this is a very good deal for Werth... and for the Mets, Marlins, and Braves. The Phillies still have to be "losers" here unless they replace him, but it won't be to hard to tell the fan base that some crazy owner overpaid and they weren't just being cheap letting him walk.
  11. "I think history can play a role if you're playing a team where the guys have played against you," Joe Girardi said. "Most of (the Rangers) don't remember the late '90s, so it's not going to affect them one way of another. It doesn't mean anything to them." Girardi has it right, the "history" should only matter when it involves the specific players on the field.
  12. All I can say about 2010 Mets baseball is thank god its over.
  13. this is really cool
  14. It's a little tough to hang them today for 2002-2004, no? that depends on who exactly you are trying to "hang." If you're going after Manuel or Minaya its unfair. If you're going after the Wilpons its fair game, I think.
  15. People would probably buy a calendar every year featuring pictures of the championship teams, pratt's hr, tom seaver, etc. but if they insist on using 12 players (or at least images) currently associated with the team it shouldnt be THAT hard. 1. Wright 2. Reyes 3. Bay (you might not love him, but he WILL be here next year) 4. Santana 5. Beltran 6. Davis 7. Pelfrey 8. Pagan 9. Dickey and Niese split page 10. A selection of 5-10 prospects all on one page, some will be back, right? 11. beautiful citi field 12. Mr. Met there, i just did better than the wilpons calendar.
  16. yeah, i read that in the paper! but really i'm just sick of them now. i'll probably start watching again next week because i know in a month or two i'll miss baseball (and i dont know how much postseason i can stomach with the yankees and maybe phillies)
  17. I haven't watched a Mets game in 2 or 3 weeks. I really didn't think this season would end that way, but here it is. I've also gotten to the point that I never got to even with Art Howe's teams where my interest almost completed ends with over a month left.
  18. please let the Mets get out of this contract.
  19. ooo an exciting mets game!

  21. this rocks.
  22. Ike sac fly, i'll turn it off after the 3rd out and go to bed assuming we won, the bottom of the inning is unnecessary!
  23. Hard Knocks just ended, looks like I didn't miss anything here.
