  1. The Mets are treating the 2nd half of September like its Extended Spring Training. FUCK YEAH!! quit worrying!
  2. END THEIR FUCKING SEASON TONIGHT.
  3. We don't f****** need Harvey to beat this shit team! let's go Mets!!
  4. Benitez belongs in the Hall of Piece of Shit Choke Artists, next to Kenny Rogers.
  5. Keith breaking out the racial stereotypes!
  6. I am officially on board with Colon over Niese in the 4th game of a potential playoff series.
  7. Zvon wrote: NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! I missed the last half. What happened? Saw cEsPeDeS 3-0 Mets Walking 2 guys, including the pitcher, in front of Harper is usually a really really bad thing, but Niese got through it
  8. Conforto!!! Johnson!!! Let's go Mets!!
  9. things have been going the Mets way for about the last 2 months, there had to be a bump somewhere, lets hit it now against the Marlinsand not this week against Washington or in the playoffs. no worry yet.
  10. Fuck Boras. and the Mets should run Harvey into the ground if it means a shot at a world series - THAT is the goal, not keeping pitchers arms in better shape for their next employer.
  11. Why are we so Anti-Ichiro? Colin provides the roadmap to a complete game in today's pansy pitch-limited MLB... Dont strike anyone out, don't walk anyone, and hope for the best.
  12. Cardinals defeat the hated Nationals, who actually led 4-0 early. Feels really good to not lose a game in the standings tonight. Nationals must be ready to pack their bags and go play golf, to be up 4-0, see the Mets get smoked, and still suck like that and lose.
  13. Anyone else here tonight? Section 511. Let's spill beer on Nats fans, if any of those beltway frontrunners are still watching.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: The drowning of Colon has been judged to have been premature. I dont know, he still feels more like the 5th string running back in the 4th quarter of a pre-season NFL game. no matter how good he looks, the spots ahead of him are already locked down. What he might be doing is making sure that he, and not Matz, is next in line for a start if anything happens to deGrom/Harvey/Niese/Syndergaard, but those guys are the post season starters right now and Colon just doesnt seem like a good bullpen piece
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: 1984 had its own kind of magic, but by late July or early August I had a sense that it wasn't going to happen for the Mets. The excitement in 1985 went all the way to the end of the season, and I hadn't experienced anything like that since 1973, when I was only ten and too young to appreciate it. 1999 had a similar exciting ending, and one that ended better. If I was born 10 or 15 years later than I was, I think 1999 would be my favorite season. But I was older and more jaded by then, so for me it's 1985. Yeah, born in 83 my favorite years are 98-99, 2000 sucked so bad the way it ended that I'd rather watch Kenny Rogers Fuck us over again.
  16. 2) Every pen needs at least one lefty so we're a bit short these days with him right now with Gilmartin in charge of eating up multiple and less LHB-specific innings. I don't agree that every pen needs a lefty, every pen would ideally contain pitchers capable of getting out good left-handed hitters, but a terrible pitcher shouldnt be on the roster just because he is a lefty. The Mets would be a better team with Gilmartin pitching to the big lefties, Dillon Gee as the long man, and O'Flaherty sitting in the stands not the bullpen.
  17. How sweet would it be if we could sweep the Nationals and make the 2nd series against them meaningless? The Yankees could roll into town with 9 games left and the Mets more concerned about getting the postseason rotation in order than they are about the "subway series"
  18. Edgy MD wrote: What's that, dumbasses? You miss me? I can't hear you on account of having tuned you dumbasses out for so long. i do miss the hat!
  19. Rockin' Doc wrote: In Washington, the Padres just finished off their 6-5 conquest of the Nationals. that is what we'd like to hear!
  20. Fman99 wrote: The Donald says he's ineligible on the basis of his skin being darker than Trump's and lighter than Obama's.
  21. Goodbye O'Gascan. Quick, change the thread title to "memories of..."
  22. agreed. on a 25-man roster he doesnt really have a spot but on a 40-man roster "dedicated pinch runner" is a useful spot to fill, even if its unlikely he'll really do anything up here
  23. if the Phillies drill Murphy the Mets should respond by drilling Larry Bowa... with a baseball bat to the face the first time he leaves the dugout.
  24. sounds like the loser phillies just cant take all the losing
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Only six more games until the rosters expand, which will give Terry more flexibility, as I'm pretty sure they'll add a few relievers. I think the most rested guy in the bullpen at the moment is probably Carlos Torres? If Bartolo doesn't go seven innings (and I suspect he won't) I think we may need to squeeze two innings out of Carlos. I'm getting a little tired of the Bartolo act as well, he's eaten some innings and probably eaten a lot post-game, pre-game, and between innings as well, but he just kinda SUCKS at this point. a 4.90 ERA in the National League in 2015 is just not acceptable. 44 starting pitchers have enough innings to qualify for the ERA title in the National League. Colon ranks 42nd among them in ERA. Only Matt Garza and Kyle Lohse pitching for Milwaukee are worse. Only 2 other pitchers on contending teams are even within a full run of him! he needs to get sat down or even outright cut when Matz comes back. If he starts a postseason game Alderson and Terry should both be fired.
