  2. Nimmo is... somewhere between bench guy and starter, but i'm not sure "platoon" is the option. I'm guessing he bounces up and down for the next 2 years before eventually giving the Mets 2-3 decent seasons as a part-time starter before settling into a bench role. its a heck of a lot better than paying the going rate (5-10 million a year) for the Colby Rasmuses of the world in free agency, but hes no star.

  4. I mean, look at Aroldis Chapman. Violently shot up his garage in anger at his wife/girlfriend and I doubt anyone's harassing him about it or booing him at Yankee Stadium. Basically forgotten? Can't we hold ourselves to higher standard than what Yankees Fans do?

  6. Zvon wrote: Edgy MD wrote: So, Conforto to the minors? Off the table? Off my table. I thought maybe he needed to work it out somewhere else. But I'm going to say I think he's figured it out. he is hitting .108 in June, how has he "figured it out"? I'd send him down for a breather
  7. Wilmer is now hurt too.
  8. i prefer they takea stand and say NO to wife-beaters, i dont care what he costs.
  9. I'm all for stretching your pitcher when it matters, but i dont see the need for 116 pitches in an 11-0 game. he should have gone 7 and called it a night.
  10. its time to find Nimmo.
  11. Vic Sage wrote: i agree with Darling. Syndy did absolutely nothing wrong with a pitch that basically said "I have pretty damn good control, but i'm gonna through this 3 feet behind you just to show i could have thrown at you, and i SHOULD throw at you, but i won't, so lets all move on now". But the asshat ump overreacted and what should have been a warning got our starter tossed. So now resentments continue to build and i won't be surprised if there is an Utley-related brawl at some point, thanks to this ump's stupid and unnecessary intervention which has INCREASED the possibility of injury, rather than letting the situation be resolved by the players on the field. Exactly.
  12. I was firmly against the panic trade (or the Joe Panik trade) at first, but now I want me some Loney. James can stay in SD, just have his wife sit behind the dugout for Mets games.
  13. I'd send his big fat ego and big fat ERA to Vegas. enough is enough.
  14. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Has Walker ever played first? No, and Conforto hasn't either. These are all the options as I see them, I don't claim they are equally valid.
  15. I don't really care about the "intentional walk" change. I don't like the change in the strike zone, but until they actually start disciplining bad umpires or replacing them with a computerized strike zone i don't think it is going to matter much as they all do what they want anyway.
  16. What would YOU do until Duda gets back? Assume for purposes of this vote that the Regular lineup is C d'Arnaud; 2B Walker; 3B Wright; SS Cabrera; RF Granderson; CF Cespedes; LF Conforto with a big gaping hole at 1B.
  17. KA-FUCKING-BOOM!!! i love this team
  18. lets get real here - Cuddyer was a much older player with ONE year left on his deal who figured he'd rather take an undisclosed buyout to retire instead of riding the bench all season. Wright is a man owed a ton of money over many seasons who really doesn't have to do anything - other than find a doctor who says he cant play - to collect it all. So the real question is what is the soonest the Mets' would stomach a monster-size buyout? I'd have to think the last year of the deal. The other factor is the embarrassment factor that many believe the Wilpons' look at combined with their post-Madoff "cheapness" - Wright getting a buyout makes for Bonilla-like jokes for decades to come while Wright on the DL is just another bad contract. Also, Wright on the DL inflates their payroll number while a bought-out Wright leads to years of criticism as to what their 'true' payroll is as they try to say that "counts" and the critics say it doesnt. I say he retires after the contract, and probably spends 1/3 of the remaining contract on the DL. Now, he hasn't actually been bad so far this season... but i'm really skeptical of back injuries
  19. There was a decent story on Bush in ESPN's magazine recently, can't seem to find it on the web though.
  20. d'Arnaud is looking more and more like a guy who will never stay on the field. Lets hope Plawecki is the real deal.
  21. I don;t necessarily think of it as "wasted time" either, unless they start cutting to commercials. Watching a close play a few more times on replay doesn't bore me.
  22. Would you vote for The Donald if he promised to abolish the DH? I think we can all agree it would actually help Make America Great Again.
  23. If we don't make it, everyone google "yankee forum" and we'll just take over.
  24. How did nobody go find this picture? I thought of it right away (but can't access this forum from work anymore because it is full of viri.) where is Vic when I need him?
