  3. I'm baaaaaaaaaaack! All open Schaefer threads through August 31 are subject to being closed without any further notice. I'll give the standard warning, when I'm ready to tally the votes, for any games played on or after September 1. It looks like many of the games are undervoted, some with as little as three responses. (Oh, and thanks to those who have been opening the threads! I appreciate your keeping the candle burning for me in my absence.)

  15. Thanks, Frayed. It looks like the games of August 19, 20, and 21 are very light on votes, one of them has only four. They will close when I return to the USA, most likely with no further warning in this thread.
  16. I prepared this card in April when it looked like Rod might win Player of the Month. It hasn't been unveiled until... RIGHT NOW!
  17. Oh, that's too bad. They may have to goad him into punching somebody else then. The possibility of the $17.5 million becoming guaranteed makes him a lot less tradeable.
  18. I can't imagine that they'll have him on the Mets in 2011. As Edgy said, if they win this case, they'll cut him loose, and if they don't, they'll deal him (probably with cash) to some other team. There's sure to be a market for him once he proves himself healthy again. Those 60-something saves a few years ago will still be appealing to more than a few teams.
  19. Okay, that's it! (For now, anyway.) No more Schaefer tallying until September. When I get home from Europe, I'll start catching up. I'll paste the UMDB box scores, and then I'll start tallying games played since then, without any additional notices here. Please continue starting the threads (and please make sure to have "Schaefer" in the title so I can easily find them) and try to get your votes in before the voting threads slip too far off the first page and become forgotten. I think I'll have some internet access here and there, so I won't be completely out of touch. Although I do kind of like the idea of coming home two weeks from now and being totally surprised to find the Mets in first place! They only voided the contract after learning about the injury. Thus, because they didn't seem to have a problem with the behavior per se, they're could theoretically be barred from now asserting an objection to it. Well... they're on record as wanting to give him a longer suspension. But after the two-day suspension was up, he was once again an active player. Estoppel? That's a new word for me. I'll have to look that up.
