  1. When they get into the 70s they'll be infringing on my territory!
  2. That was my guess too! Fernsmile Doehorn!
  3. Daniel Murphy! I'd love to see him be a long-time Met, somehow, but I don't know that his glove will ever be good enough for the infield and his bat (and his glove) may never be good enough for the outfield. I think he'll improve a bit at second base this year, hit .280 with 6 homers and get most of the starts at 2B. But by next year he'll start hearing Wilmer Flores' footsteps. A decent bet to be traded midseason for an American League outfielder.
  4. Stuck in the Dominican for a while. Now thyroid issues. The year hasn't started well for Jenrry this year, but hopefully things will turn around. I'd like to think he starts the season as the sixth starter for the Mets, but I have my doubts about that. I'll say 8 starts with the Mets and a 4.55 ERA.
  5. My guess is that he'll end up behind Jeremy Hefner on the starting pitcher depth chart. I'm not expecting to see much of him with the Mets this year, but who knows? I'll say 25 starts in Vegas, two with the Mets.
  6. I'd rather see all 30 teams move to Puerto Rico.

  8. That's almost as good as "What's the frequency, Kenneth?"
  9. I'm wondering if any teams celebrate the 100th anniversary of a worlds championship. Many of the teams that were winning World Series 100 years ago no longer play in the same city, but there are a few that do. Did the Red Sox celebrate the 100th anniversary of their 1912 team? Did the Pirates have a ceremony in 2009 for the 1909 team? Did the Cubs celebrate in 2008, or was that too bittersweet since there haven't been any championships since then. If all of the players and fans from the time are dead, do the teams figure that nobody cares anymore?
  10. He says he'll make 30 starts. I'll put him down for 25. 9-9, 4.20 ERA.
  11. At the moment, he seems to be third on the depth chart in the "closer" position behind Francisco and Parnell, but I think he'll rise through the ranks. Francisco won't last the season with the Mets, and Parnell will again struggle in the ninth inning and Lyon will get his chance, and he'll make the most of it. I think he'll end up with 15 saves, 3.90 ERA. He won't be the "lights out" guy the fans want, but he'll end up being the best choice.
  12. Do you mean that Martino lives under a bridge and threatens billy goats?
  13. Rube Walker definitely belongs. But I think his present status probably, unfairly, makes him less likely.
  14. Andy Martino saying that the Mets expect Santana to open the season on the DL.
  15. That was great. They oughta do something like that again!
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Build it into Hall of Fame Day, especially if they have any 1973 characters they hope to enshrine. Probably the most deserving choice from that team is Jon Matlack. Seaver, Staub, Jones, Koosman, Kranepool, Grote, McGraw, and Harrelson are all in. Unless they want to pay Yogi to show up.
  17. MRI indicates that Nieuwenhuis has a bone bruise in his knee. He's expected to be out for a week.
  18. I just look for it all to be over so that the real games can start. I find that I can't pay attention to a spring training game for more than a few minutes.
  19. NEW YORK METS Baxter, Mike Brown, Andrew Buck, John Burke, Greg Byrd, Marlon Carson, Robert Cowgill, Collin d'Arnaud, Travis Davis, Ike Duda, Lucas Edgin, Josh Familia, Jeurys Feliciano, Pedro Francisco, Frank Gee, Dillon Harvey, Matt Hefner, Jeremy Hicks, Brandon Lutz, Zach Lyon, Brandon Marcum, Shaun McHugh, Collin Mejia, Jenrry Murphy, Daniel Niese, Jon Nieuwenhuis, Kirk Parnell, Bobby Quintanilla, Omar Ramirez, Elvin Recker, Anthony Santana, Johan Tejada, Ruben Turner, Justin Valdespin, Jordany Wheeler, Zack Wright, David TORONTO BLUE JAYS Dickey, R.A. Reyes, Jose
  20. Is he going to make the team? He's on the 40-man, and Omar Quintanilla is not, so I suppose for now he has an advantage of sorts. I'll say 150 plate appearances for the Mets, a .230 batting average. Won't be back in 2014.
  21. I figure that the more starts that Jeremy Hefner gets, the worse the season is going to be. I'll say that he'll get five big league starts, and about ten appearances in relief for the Mets. He'll pitch more innings in Las Vegas than in New York.
  22. What do we expect from Matt Harvey this year? I think there will be some struggles, but overall a decent year. 180 innings, 3.60 ERA, 12-11 record.
  23. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that the cheapass Wilpons don't want to spend the money to send him to New York. Am I right people?
