  3. Jeff Innis and Ron Gardenhire are both "pure", I think.
  4. There were 21 Mets or former Mets who played in the major leagues in 2011 but did not do so in 2012. Are their careers over? Or do some of them still have a comeback left in them? These are the 21: Blaine Boyer Taylor Buchholz Mike Cameron Robinson Cancel Ramon Castro Alex Cora Nick Evans Jesus Feliciano Nelson Figueroa Casey Fossum Sean Green Aaron Heilman Chin-lung Hu Lastings Milledge Pat Misch Gustavo Molina Melvin Mora Michael O'Connor Jeremy Reed Tobi Stoner Chris Woodward
  5. Some cuts announced today: New York Times wrote: PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. The Mets demoted six players from their major league camp on Sunday. As expected, the Mets optioned catcher Travis dArnaud, 24, to the minor leagues, sending him off with some high praise. He met all of our expectations, which, for the organization and Mets fans, were fairly high, General Manager Sandy Alderson said. Alderson conceded that starting dArnaud at Class AAA benefits the Mets from a variety of team control standpoints. But he said, hypothetically, if starter John Buck were to be injured, dArnaud would take his place. The Mets sent five more players to the minors, reassigning the left-hander Aaron Laffey, infielder Brian Bixler and outfielders Jamie Hoffmann and Andrew Brown, and outrighting infielder Brandon Hicks. The departure of Bixler and Hicks seemed to settle one roaster battle, leaving the utility infield spot for Omar Quintanilla. "Roaster battle?"
  6. I've long been curious about this film, and I finally saw it for the first time yesterday.
  7. 1. Fourth place 2. 80-82 (I'm feeling optimistic.) 3. No. 4. No.
  8. A Woody Flynn siting!
  9. He's looking good to pass Mike Piazza this year on the all-time Mets home run list, the one most prestigious team batting record he doesn't yet hold. A good season will leave him poised to pass Darryl Strawberry some time next year. Players with more than 200 Home Runs 1. Darryl Strawberry 252 2. Mike Piazza 220 3. David Wright 204
  10. And... we're done! Zack Wheeler and David Wright were just added to the table of contents. Feel free to start a thread for anyone I may have overlooked.
  11. One or two sizzling hot streaks. One prolonged slump. Overall, .295, 25 homers, 38 doubles, 95 rbi. The "Captain America" nickname will fade, to be replaced by "Man Thing."
  12. I think we'll see him in Queens before June 1. Not sure who he'd replace in the rotation. Maybe an injured Santana or an ineffective Gee or Marcum. He'll go 4-4 with a 3.66 ERA, getting little run support. Bigger things in 2014.
  13. Ask Governor Phillip.
  14. I was at that game. No need to relive it!
  15. It worked in Chrome for me too, and it didn't yesterday. Not because of anything I did. My guess is that Google found out that they had issues with the all-powerful Ultimate Mets Database and they accordingly rushed a fix into production. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

  17. Added Turner and Valdespin. Almost done!
  18. When he was in AA, I proclaimed him my favorite Mets minor leaguer. Since then he's been tainted with a bit of a bad reputation, but I'm not sure if it's because he's a bad guy, or if he's a free spirit who just needs to mature a bit. (Hopefully it's the latter.) My guess is that he'll have one or two pretty solid seasons in the big leagues, but won't have the staying power to have a lengthy career. Maybe that solid season (let's say 20 homers and 80 rbi) will come with the Mets, but I don't think it will be in 2013. I do think he'll see more playing time than anyone was thinking he'd get a month or so ago. I'll say 280 at bats, 11 homers, .255. Most of his games will come in the outfield, but he'll appear in the infield about ten times.

  20. metirish wrote: Question The link above provides the number and names, over time will a players number appear when you click on a players name in above link? sorry, JCL said as much if I am reading correctly on MBTN. Yes, the uniform numbers will, before too long, appear on the player's profile page. They also recently began appearing on the scorecards. (Which you probably can't see at all if you use Chrome.)
  21. I think it is a Chrome thing. It's working fine in IE, Firefox, and Safari.
  22. Hmmm... it's working for me. Where are you seeing broken images?
