  1. Do you define the "pre-Edgy" era as the time before your birth, or before your awareness? Musial (and Berra and Koufax) did play in my lifetimes, but they had retired before I knew who they were.
  2. Do White Sox fans think of it as the "Seaver Era"?
  3. I guess he wanted to wait until he had financial security.
  4. Even though he's now dead, I'd still be willing to replace Terry Collins with him.
  5. Uh oh... watch out for Mr. InBetween!
  6. Pretty wife. Cute kid. And he's a Met! Who says you can't have it all?
  7. ???????????????????????????????????????????
  8. A "chigger"? Did metirish sneeze on you?
  9. Are you suggesting that the Mets hired Terry expecting him to only stick around long enough to get them through a few sucky seasons, or that that was the most likely outcome? I'm not particularly enamored of Terry and if he goes away it's fine with me. But unless he's no longer insane, I'd prefer that the next guy not be Wally Backman.
  10. It doesn't sound too horribly overpriced. It's not the kind of thing that I'd personally be interested in, but if I was I'd be willing to pony up $4400, especially since it includes airfare. (I'm curious, does that just mean airfare from the continental U.S.? What if I was a Mets fan living in Japan or Korea, for instance? If that's a fixed worldwide airfare, then international participants can be getting a real bargain!)
  11. I'd give 8 to d'Arnaud so fast that his "broken-down" knee would spin. But I doubt that that's going to happen.
  12. No. When the poll choices get changed, the polling restarts.
  13. D'Arnaud smells like a 10 to me (that sounds weird) but I expect he'll show up while Terry Collins is still wearing that number. Anyway... A. Greg Burke, sp 58 B. Gonzalez Germen, sp 71 C. 15. How much does it cost?
  16. Aren't you the guy who said that money wasn't finite?
  17. I sure hope that's not a euphemism.
  18. Joel Sherman, New York Post wrote: On another front, an industry source confirmed the Mets have rejected Scott Hairstons asking price of two years and $8 million. It is believed the Mets countered with a one-year offer worth $2 million, leaving the two sides at a stalemate in negotiations. The 32-year-old Hairston earned $1.1 million in 2012, during which he batted .263 with 20 homers and 57 RBIs. The source pointed to Endy Chavez, Ramon Castro, Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez four recent free agents for which the Mets overspent in terms of years and dollars as the reason the team will be judicious pursuing Hairston. Even if Hairston doesnt return, the source said he would be surprised if the Mets dont upgrade an outfield that includes Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter, Collin Cowgill and Andrew Brown. The Mets recently inquired about Arizonas Justin Upton, but talks never gained momentum, after the Diamondbacks asked for top pitching prospect Zack Wheeler. Endy Chavez? Ramon Castro? Were the Mets badly burned by either of them? I'm suspecting that the real reason the Mets turned down the two years, $8 million is because they feel that nobody else is offering anywhere near that much, and that they can get him for less. And if he does go elsewhere, it's not a major loss. I do hope he comes back, but I'll manage to move on with my life if he doesn't.
  19. And when he's having sex, his partner has to look at Matt's grandmother*. *Depending on what position they assume, that is.
  20. Reports this morning that Hairston wants two years, $8 million, and that the Mets have "balked".

  22. Hard to believe that was over seven years ago now.
  23. Which Braves did he blow?
  24. Newsday reporting this morning that the Mets and Diamondbacks have resumed discussions about Upton. Mets resume trade talks for Diamondbacks' Justin Upton
  25. Kinda cute, if you overlook the demonic eyes.
