  1. My policy, which has been in effect for a few years now, is to go to Citi Field in April, before all hope drains out of the season. I then tend not to return again until the next April. I look forward to a season in which I'm motivated to go to a game in July or August. Or dare I say it... September?
  2. That's his "sexy" pose, isn't it?
  3. Maybe we should just have one all-purpose "Batmagadanleadoff hates Mets Management" thread.
  4. I understand that. I'm just saying I'd rather they find a way to keep Montero and deal someone else. (Like Syndergaard, I guess.)
  5. I know that some of these young pitchers are likely to be traded, but I do hope that Montero isn't one of them.
  6. I wonder what kind of trade value guys like Hefner, Marcum, or Gee might have? Probably more than they would have had a month or so ago. Would trading them now be "selling high"? Obviously, none of the three will bring back a "superstar" but it shouldn't be hard to trade for someone who would improve the Mets outfield over the next few seasons. Byrd is also probably fairly tradeable right now. I know that dealing him could make the outfield a bit weaker in the short term, but now's a time for the Mets to be playing the "long game".
  7. Matt has nowhere to go until after the 2018 season. The state of the 2013 Mets won't influence his decision.
  8. Harvey 5 Edgin 0.5 Byrd 1.25 Wright 1.25 Buck 0.5
  9. No-decisions have become more common as starting pitcher innings have decreased.
  10. I was thinking the same. It was probably the 97 pitches that made Terry feel he had to make the move.
  11. So far, they don't look like a team that intends to score runs.
  12. Young adult brother and sister think their millionaire parents have discovered kinky sex.
  13. He hit a two-out warning track fly ball with Wright and Murphy on first and second.
  14. There seems to be a sense that another shoe is going to drop, but I'm not at all sure of that.
  15. Dillon Gee, in the dugout, wearing the all-blue cap, while his teammates on the field are wearing the ones with the orange brims.
  16. You know what they say: Don't fuck with Fudgie the Whale.
  17. Oops, sorry, that's not Kevin James, it's "Gary Valentine." I need to pay more attention.
  18. In retrospect, the Mets should have traded John Buck on April 30. Kevin James doing an awful Bob Murphy impression.
  19. No vanis takee for Beltran now that he's a visiting player.
  20. Matt Harvey falls to the ground jumping out of the way of a comebacker, and Terry and the medical crew rush to the mound to make sure he's okay. (Apparently he is.) Ron Darling points out that yesterday the same thing happened to Dillon Gee, "and nobody gave a shit."
  21. And people who don't like ice cream can always enjoy the napkin!
  22. Top of the first: ten pitches, nine strikes. Not too shabby!
  23. Currently overcast in Flushing. National Weather Service wrote: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 70. East wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. I'd be tempted to let Marcum start today's game, in case it turns out to be one of those three-inning rainouts.
