  1. Box score Niese 6 Murphy 0.67 d'Arnaud 0.66 Quintanilla 0.67 Lagares 0.67 Davis 0.66 Brown 0.67
  2. Depending on how much playing time David Wright gets over the remainder of this season, Daniel Murphy may also end up as the only Met to get 502 plate appearances, which would make him the default team leader for batting average, slugging, and OBP. As for ERA leader, Matt Harvey already has the 162 innings needed to lead the team in that category. He can also lead the league, but to do so he'll need Clayton Kershaw to get knocked around quite a bit. Harvey is the only Met with 162 innings so far, but Dillon Gee is only a few innings short of that mark.
  3. We'll see about that.
  4. Wheeler 4 Feliciano 0.5 Brown 1 Byrd 1 Germen 1
  5. And her dad was a radio ventriloquist!
  6. Murphy is right in the thick of things: 1 Matt Harvey 84.66 2 Marlon Byrd 78.66 3 Daniel Murphy 78.41 4 David Wright 69.85 5 Dillon Gee 54.97 6 John Buck 53.21 7 Jeremy Hefner 43.41 8 Juan Lagares 32.89 9 Ike Davis 32.52 10 Jon Niese 32.26 Byrd may still get a few more points; the last four games haven't been tallied yet. I suppose there's a chance that he'll get the 6.01 points he needs to pass Harvey. Gee really has to pour it on to pass Harvey.
  7. It does look that way.
  8. Both guys were Schaefer Mets Players of the Month this year. Marlon Byrd had a real chance at being the Player of the Year.
  9. It's that pie to Jordanny that I'll remember the most. When I saw him being interviewed in spring training, I thought of him as a possible future manager somewhere. That pie made me back off that a bit.
  10. I'm with Frayed Knot. Let them go home at the end of September.
  11. Yes, a character as big as Batman can withstand a bad movie or a bad performance a lot better than a lesser character, like Daredevil or Green Lantern can. If those two guys were real, they'd probably be suing their agents.
  12. I'd sign up for another 1985 right now. As for me, I'm hoping the Mets can contend. I never assumed it, but I do think there's a chance, with or without Harvey. (Obviously, more of a chance with.)
  13. This whole thing sucks, but it's no reason to write off 2014 yet.
  14. Voting for all three games played against the Tigers last weekend will close on Wednesday afternoon, some time after 2 p.m. Schaefer POTG 8/23/13 - Tigers 6, Mets 1 Schaefer POTG 8/24/13 - Tigers 3, Mets 0 Schaefer POTG 8/25/13 - Tigers 11, Mets 3

  17. Now with Harvey out, the Mets may have to grab yet another veteran throwaway starter. I still feel a Dontrelle Willis vibe...
  18. USA Today wrote: The New York Mets were dealt a blow today. Matt Harvey has a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and was placed on the disabled list. "It was the last thing I expected," said Harvey, who had an MRI on his right elbow this morning. "I was shocked at the news." There is a chance this injury could lead to Tommy John surgery. But Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said that won't be known until the swelling goes down.
  19. While this certainly sounds bad, I'm waiting to hear this confirmed by somebody other than Mike Francesa.
  20. I thought it was built on the Shea Stadium parking lot.
  21. CBS Sports wrote: According to WFAN's Mike Francesa, Mets ace Matt Harvey is headed to the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. Such an injury, of course, often leads to Tommy John surgery. Marc Carig of Newsday originally reported that Harvey underwent an MRI on Monday morning. Harvey, age 24, has pitched to a 2.27 ERA (159 ERA+), 0.931 WHIP and 6.16 K/BB ratio in this, his first full season at the major-league level. He was of course the NL starting pitcher for All-Star Game at Citi Field in July. The Mets for some time have planned to shut down Harvey at around the 200-inning mark (he's presently at 178 1/3). Now, though, losing Harvey for merely the rest of 2013 is probably a best-case scenario.According to WFAN's Mike Francesa, Mets ace Matt Harvey is headed to the disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. 22. Is Mackey Shillstone the jockey?
  23. It's definitely a sign of my decreased interest as a baseball fan that the Mets went up against a pitcher with a 18-1 record, and I didn't recognize his name. I mean, I know I'm only a fraction of the fan I used to be, but stuff like this still surprises me.
  24. I agree. Each character only gets so many chances to be in a movie, and when a screwup occurs, it's not only an opportunity wasted, but it could harm the chances of the character getting another shot. Superman and Batman get more chances than most, but it still matters for them. Me, I'm more invested in the Fantastic Four, and while there were a few things I liked about their two movies, overall it was a big misfire, especially the characterizations of Reed Richards and Doctor Doom. I'm glad they're getting another chance with a reboot. The Green Lantern movie was so bad, it may have set that character's movie chances back twenty years or more.
