    I'm not convinced of (1) but am inclined to agree with (2). I got frustrated last year in softball when 12-year-old girls approached the plate the way Tejada did. I have to think that I'd expect even more of Tejada than I would from a 12-year-old girl.

    Maybe teams should provide free birth control to their players in the months of November, December, and January so that players won't have to miss any paternity time during the pennant race and post-season. February too, to be extra careful.

    It's his right, and I don't blame him for exercising it, but if the mom and baby are in New York, and the team is playing at home, he might as well show up for the game. Can he defer the three-day leave until the first road trip? I'm guessing probably not.
