  4. I'm hoping it's Syndergaard in Game 2. I'd rather see him pitch at Citi than at Wrigley. Although I guess I feel the same way about Matz.
  5. Okay, as somebody who hasn't paid a whole lot of attention to the Cubs all year, I have some catching up to do. Many of you may already know this, but I'll post it anyway. The Cubs had four pitchers in 2015 who had more than 30 starts. Each of those four starters got one start in the NLDS against St. Louis. I figure they're the guys we're most likely to see in the NLCS. One of the names clearly stands out from the others: [list:19qdwo3e]Jon Lester (LHP) Age 31. 11-12, 3.34 ERA, 1.122 WHIP Kyle Hendricks (RHP) Age 25. 8-7, 3.95 ERA, 1.161 WHIP Jake Arrieta (RHP) Age 29. 22-6, 1.77 ERA, 0.865 WHIP Jason Hammel (RHP) Age 32. 10-7, 3.74 ERA, 1.160 WHIP[/list:u:19qdwo3e]
  6. Valadius wrote: The last Mets playoff game I attended was Game 1 of the 2000 World Series. We all know how that turned out. The last one I attended was in 1988, when Mike Scioscia homered off Doc Gooden. That one didn't turn out well either.
  7. I'm more optimistic about beating the Cubs than I was the Dodgers, but I don't expect it to be easy. So I said Mets in 7.
  8. I think Gwreck is right. The network carrying the AL Games probably has a right to a prime time game during the week.
  9. And my boss will be sending me e-mails all day asking me to explain the mistakes he keeps making.
  10. I was kind of looking forward to a 4 p.m. start for Tuesday's game. Oh well. I'll sleep in November.
  11. Ooooh! Nice find!
  12. TransMonk wrote: Some people call me the captain. I can admit, other than that Game 1 hit, I had a pretty stinky NLDS. But I dare any opposing pitcher to have a false sense of security. I can strike at any time and should still be one of the most feared hitters in the lineup. I'm looking forward to sending a baseball or two out to Waveland Avenue. These things read like the reverse side of the Marvel 7-Eleven Slurpee cups that I collected when I was a kid.
  13. I assume we'll roll into the NLCS with the same roster that we had at the close of the NLDS? Latest reports indicate that Juan Uribe is still not ready to play. I'm not sure what other moves they might make. Perhaps swap Goeddel for someone else? I don't expect that they'll do that, but when do we know for sure?
  14. It's probably a "you may remember Daniel Murphy as the guy who..." kind of thing. Just like when the Billy Bean story broke they mentioned his previous "controversy", about when he was with his wife after his son was born.
  15. Yes, you're right. Thank you. I have the double in the database but missed it when updating the list of leaders. It's corrected now.
  16. DeGrom already, as a Rookie of the Year, had a significant place in Mets history. But he definitely pushed that to a new level in his last two starts.
  17. dgwphotography wrote: I'm probably going to sleep for 25 hours on Sunday... Then you'll miss Game 2 against the Cubs! Maybe you should try to limit it to 21 hours of sleep on Sunday.
  18. The Mets are about to play in their eighth National League Championship Series. They've won this series four times: 1969 (Braves), 1973 (Reds), 1986 (Astros) and 2000 (Cardinals) and they lost three times: 1988 (Dodgers), 1999 (Braves) and 2006 (Cardinals). As in the NLDS thread, active Mets players are in bold, although you won't see a lot of that here. At least, not yet. 19. Final update for 2015. I hope to see several more "Mets in the NLDS" threads over the next few years! As we can see, this year's team was able to make its mark in a number of categories. 20. And the Mets were 11-1 against the Dodgers in 1988.
  21. Or he can spend more time with Helga, Honi, Hamlet and Snert. And of course, Lucky Eddie and Kvack.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: the city still wants revenge for '69 They already got their revenge for 1969. Now, if there's vengeance to be enacted (and I don't really subscribe to that notion, but whatever) the Mets fans should be seeking revenge for 1984.
  23. The TBS announcers said that Tuesday's Game 4 in Chicago is going to be a day game. That's not confirmed here yet, but I think tomorrow I'll put in for a day off from work that day.
