This is the same kind of stuff we were hearing last year though, so who knows?

Thanks for remembering! It looks like this poll is going to make it after all! We now know that the final count will be somewhere between 572 and 734.

This thread was started when the Dickey trade was still in the rumor phase: RA. Dickey Trade Rumors Deserve Their Own Thread And this one was started when we knew the details of the trade. Nineteen people hoped it would happen, and seven wanted it to fall through. The Dickey-to-Toronto trade

Well, the bright side is, now that the Royals and the Giants have both played their spoiler role, there won't be any remaining obstacles for 2017!

I'd hate to have to argue Zack Wheeler's arbitration case.

Most people thought the Mets fleeced Toronto from day 1. It might have been feedback I got from UMDB visitors. I think there were some people here who were opposed, but I guess I'm not really sure of that.

Last year's thread on this very same topic: Re-sign Cespedes
  8. Benjamin Grimm
The Mets, I think, have exclusive negotiating rights with Cespedes until the end of the World Series. I'd love to see this get resolved, with an extension for Cespedes, before anyone else gets a chance to talk to him. He says he wants to stay, so let's make it happen!

Well, for me it's dead until April! It took me a little while to fall asleep, but once I did it was a normal night. I would have had far more trouble sleeping if I was jazzed about an upcoming series against the Cubs.

    I'm with you! Go Giants!

Yeah, he's the real deal, and other than Granderson's running catch, his performance was really the only positive from last night's game. I wonder what ever happened to all of the people who thought the Mets had "dumped R.A. Dickey" for a bunch of nobodies.

Rockin' Doc wrote: Should have saved Familia for the save. He just seems to be a different pitcher when it isn't a save situation. I don't agree with that philosophy, but anyway, it only applies on the road. There was never going to be a save situation for Familia in this game because by the ninth inning we knew that if the Mets ever took the lead the game would have been immediately over.

And even if Noah has to come out after seven, I think Reed should have stayed in and pitched the ninth inning. Rene Rivera had made the last out. Reed could have gone into his spot in the batting order and Travis could have gone into the ninth slot.

I think I have to root for the Giants to win the pennant now. Can't root for the Cubs. I'd hate to see their long losing tradition end. Dodgers have Utley. Nationals are a division rival. The Giants seemed like well-mannered opponents. I have no reason to root against them.

Oh well. TV off. I'll resume watching baseball in April.

I'm starting to feel really pessimistic.
  18. Benjamin Grimm
    This is excruciating.
  19. Benjamin Grimm
If they win it will be a walkoff. Have the Mets had any walkoff wins in the post season since Benny Agbayani?
  20. Benjamin Grimm
Jeez. For a split second I thought we had the lead.
  21. Benjamin Grimm
So is Loney gonna lead off, or will they stick with the plan to have Campbell bat for him? We'll need another righty to bat for Reed. D'Arnaud? Lagares? Kelly?

    Be still my heart!
  23. Benjamin Grimm
Pence gonna come up with the bases loaded and two out.
  24. Benjamin Grimm
Shouldn't Buster Posey be delivering a baby or something right now?
  25. Benjamin Grimm
No double switch, so I guess we'll only get one inning from Reed.
