  1. If you were really a racist, you would have called it CABIN IN THE SKY.
  2. Centerfield wrote: Question, on the days the Mets wear their alternative jerseys, do we also pretend that the inauguration was attended by the most people ever? How about on Opening Day, the Mets raise a 2016 World Championship banner?
  3. Centerfield wrote: Probably going to be the weakest of our Final Four I would guess. I think so too. Centerfield wrote: And if the current tallies hold up, it looks like we will have dueling Cespedes covers in the semi-final. Actually, if the two Daily News Cespedes covers face off, it won't be until the final round. In the next round, METS IN A LANDSLIDE will go up against the winner of SEEDS OF LIFE vs. SULTAN OF SWAAT. And the winner of CES BOOM BAH vs. WIL POWER will face the winner of HAIR APPARENT vs. 11th HEAVEN. This will all happen on Thursday.
  4. METS IN A LANDSLIDE wins and becomes the first entry in our Final Four. HAMMERS & THOR is out.
  5. Cooby, what exactly are you implying about Maja?
  6. Please explain your nickname methodology.
  7. That's kind of a dis to Juan Ponce de Leon, who was a helluva ballplayer.
  8. I'd hang on to him rather than eat his salary. At some point, and perhaps before April 1, some team may have a left-handed slugger tear up his knee, or something, and then will be looking to acquire someone like Jay Bruce. I would guess that the Mets will have a chance to trade him before June 1 anyway, and would therefore only pay a fraction of that $13 million. His presence does continue that logjam of outfielders, but it looks like that's something we're going to have to live with for at least a little while.
  9. How is Schaefer doing against the general consensus?
  10. Wow, 52 is probably higher than he can count!
  11. Yes, that is Lucas Duda at the Louvre! Good eye!
  12. Valadius wrote: David Schoenfield of ESPN.com takes a crack at predicting every induction class until 2045. He has Thor getting inducted in 2044. I'll be 81 years old!
  13. Edgy MD wrote: He goes the other way plenty. But not in the way that Mike Piazza does, right?
  14. Winner of Round 1.4.5 Winner of Round 2.4.4 Winner of Round 3.4.2 11th HEAVEN Newsday, September 22, 2016. A come-from-behind 11th inning three-run homer by Asdrubal Cabrera gives the Mets an exhilarating win over the Phillies. Winner of Round 1.4.1 Winner of Round 2.4.3 Winner of Round 3.4.1 THE HAIR APPARENT! New York Daily News, September 4, 2016 Robert Gsellman shows that the Mets have yet another long-haired starting pitcher that they can count on.
  15. Bumping this to the new page. With a new Tabloid Cover Derby winner set to be named in three weeks, people have been wondering about the fate of YES-PEDES, last year's winner which has been on display in our headquarters lobby in Stockholm. Well, the exciting news is that YES-PEDES is embarking on a world tour, with stops in art museums in Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Terre Haute, and New York before settling in to its permanent home at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. The cover is currently on display at the Louvre in Paris, where it has temporarily displaced the famed Mona Lisa portrait by Leonardo da Vinci! For details about tour places and dates, check in with Maja at the front desk. And speaking of Maja... Apparently since we last checked in with her she's become a bit of a celebrity in Sweden. She's had a glamorous makeover, and she's now starring in a reality show, Maja: Ut Från Bakom Skrivbordet, which airs on Sweden's SVT network. Negotiations are underway for the show to be available in the United States on Netflix or Hulu some time in 2018.
  16. Yeah, it's probably just a matter of time.

  18. I can see, by clicking on the links above, that I've never voted against either of these covers. But I'm now all in on CES BOOM BAH!, and I don't think I'll be voting against it at all, come what may.
  19. Winner of Round 1.3.3 Winner of Round 2.3.4 Winner of Round 3.3.2 WIL POWER! New York Daily News, July 8, 2016 A three-run homer by Wilmer Flores highlights a 9-7 win over the Nationals at Citi Field. Winner of Round 1.3.8 Winner of Round 2.3.2 Winner of Round 3.3.1 CES BOOM BAH! New York Daily News, August 30, 2016 Yoenis Cespedes hits a solo homer in the bottom of the 10th to give the Mets a 2-1 win over the Marlins.
  20. This was an easy one for me. SEEDS OF LIFE is unique and fun. SULTAN OF SWAAT is a cluttered mess.
  21. It's David Wright vs. Noah Syndergaard. The winner gets to advance to the Final Four and enjoy the privilege of eating a sandwich in the clubhouse during spring training. The loser goes into the recycling bin.
  22. Winner of Round 1.2.2 Winner of Round 2.2.4 Winner of Round 3.2.2 SULTAN OF SWAAT New York Daily News, May 12, 2016. Noah Syndergaard slugs two home runs in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Winner of Round 1.2.3 Winner of Round 2.2.2 Winner of Round 3.2.1 SEEDS OF LIFE New York Post, May 22, 2016. David Wright is showered with sunflower seeds after singling home the game-winning run in the ninth inning against the Brewers.
  23. When this poll was tied at 9, I posted a plea for a tie-breaking vote. Two people came through, Diamond Dad publicly broke the tie and then someone else, some mysterious other, who could have restored the tie, instead reinforced 11th HEAVEN's lead. The Newsday cover, therefore, advances to the Elite Eight and WET & WILD will go somewhere to dry off.
