At present time, it is considered unethical by UNOS (the United Network for Organ Sharing) for someone to trade valuable items for a kidney, or to pay money for a kidney. It is a very controversial issue, and certainly there are some countries that condone this practice. But not the United States. Mr. Kranepool is financially sound, and would not need to raise money to assist in any medically related endeavor. But even if he were not financially sound, he would not need to raise money to fund a kidney transplant. The costs would be covered by his insurance. I am not certain of how the topic of selling his ring was brought up to him, but it is important that we clear up any confusion here. He is, however, looking for an altruistic kidney donor. What can the donor expect in return? Mr. Kranepool’s sincerest gratitude.

I like having Opening Day be the first baseball I watch each year. So I too skip the spring training telecasts. I can't watch a game where I don't care about the outcome, so this approach works better for me.

I'll repeat my fun fact about him from last year: Same first name as deGrom, same middle name as Syndergaard. I get the feeling that he comes just after Gsellman on the depth chart (although he has it in his power to change that). I see him starting the season in Vegas and how much time he spends with the Mets depends on how healthy the other starters are.

He's the right-handed-hitting outfielder who isn't Yoenis Cespedes. I have no idea how much playing time he'll get. I imagine that Granderson will be rested more often than he has been in past years, so Lagares may get most of his starts in center field against lefties, but may not necessarily start in most games that the Mets play against lefties. I suspect that he'll be in more games as a pinch-hitter or for late-inning defense than he will as a starter.

For some reason, I had pretty much forgotten that he exists. The Mets bullpen is pretty hard to predict -- which is probably true of a lot of bullpens. I figure that Familia, Reed, Robles, Salas, and Blevins will be heavily relied upon (if they're healthy and don't suck, of course) but beyond that I really don't know who will be in Queens and who will be in Vegas.

I think he'll get 300 plate appearances, and that he'll get squeezed into the lineup one way or another in most games where the opposing starter is a lefty.

I'm hoping that this season there will be no reason for a "Get off the Interstate" thread.
