Maybe they could have been clever and built the mall on stilts, so that all (or most, actually) of the parking spaces would still be available. It would still be a problem, because mall parking would interfere with game parking, but it would have had less of an impact. I don't know if they would have gotten away with it.
  2. Centerfield wrote: I don't like how other MLB clubs keep emailing me after I go to a game. I went to Mets games in Pittsburgh and Seattle in 2014. And, like you, I kept getting e-mail updates from them. The Mariners were far worse than the Pirates. I kept getting e-mails about what the Mariner Moose was up to. But the e-mails have an unsubscribe feature, and when I finally got around to use it, it worked perfectly. No more e-mails from the Pirates or Mariners.
  3. I liked Logan a lot. I just didn't find Deadpool funny at all. And when you're not enjoying the humor, comedies are a chore to watch.
  4. I have no idea who the next guy will be, but I don't see it being Hojo or Wally. The most likely 86er is probably Tim Teufel, but he's a real longshot himself.
  5. You have the 2008 Hulk movie listed twice. I'm guessing the 2003 one is the one you say is unwatchable? If so, i agree. And you liked Deadpool a lot more than I did!
  6. I'm the 3.5.
  7. After eight years, two lawsuits, countless delays, & three city reversals, the plan for a mall at Willets Point has finally been defeated. And much like the Mets these days, it lost badly. In a 5-1 decision, the Appeals Court upheld a lower court ruling that held the owners of the Mets could not build a mall on city-owned parkland. The land in question, the former site of Shea Stadium, which was demolished in 2008, is currently the Mets parking lot. A 1961 law allowed that parkland to be used for stadium purposes, a cut-out that a mall would not have satisfied, the court found. Full article: The Willets Point Mall Is Dead
  8. Voting for all games played between May 15 and May 31 will close on Wednesday, June 14. If you're on the list below with a 15 next to your name, you're all caught up on the games that are about to close. If not, and if you're so inclined, please try to get your votes in over the next week. Ashie62 15 Benjamin Grimm 15 OhSheaCanKC 15 TMF 15 G-Fafif 15 LWFS 12 Lunch 12 FK 8 Vic Sage 8
  9. I think I'd leave Gsellman in the rotation and make Harvey the mop-up guy. I don't have any expectation that that will happen.
  10. Because he was born on D-Day, Bud Harrelson is one of a very few Mets whose birthdays I know off the top of my head. Happy Birthday, Derrel McKinley! 73 years old!

  12. Don't make me look at that picture again! I won't be able to stop!
  13. I half agree and half disagree. I think that there are a lot of beautiful actresses around, but Gal Godot definitely stands out among them. She really is stunning. In fact, I saw that photo that I posted above in a newspaper article and I literally had to will myself to turn the page.
  14. If they don't care, that would certainly reflect poorly on Terry.

  17. I'm thinking that maybe I should read Fear Strikes Out. I watched the movie many years ago (maybe as much as 40 years ago!) but somehow I never read the book. I think there's a misconception among some about how Piersall "ran the bases backward". Some think that he ran from third base to second to first to home, which of course would have invalidated the home run. Obviously, as the famous photo indicates, he touched the bases in the proper order, but was facing in the opposite direction as he was running. I don't think I've ever seen video of him doing that. Does it actually exist?
  18. Saw it on Saturday afternoon. I really enjoyed it. I liked that it wasn't entangled in the rest of the DC Universe and was set off on its own in World War I. And I liked the period setting as well. It's just too bad that the actress playing Wonder Woman was so damn unattractive.
  19. I would too, but I'm not sure what to do with Harvey. Does he go to the pen? Do they trade him? Release him??? This is a surprising development, but Harvey is looking like a guy who might be non-tendered in the offseason.
  20. Cast your vote! Has anyone ever had a thicker ponytail than Venus?
  21. RealityChuck wrote: Even if the team wins the World Series this year, they're going to be decimated in the offseason. I agree.

  23. I think he needs to spend a few nights with Adriana Lima.
