  1. I was surprised when it beat MR. 300.
  2. It's Florida. They probably will anyway.
  3. Does that mean that his Valadius nickname will be "Anchor Baby"?
  4. 5. I doubt it will be Harrison. Sandy stated clearly yesterday that he prefers to go with a free agent, and with several out there I would think that that's the way he'll go. That's why I'm thinking that Nunez is becoming more likely. So, I guess, is Jose Reyes.
  6. Have the Mets ever had an all-Hispanic starting infield?
  7. I wouldn't think he'd displace Rosario or Cabrera but instead would join them in the infield.
  8. I couldn't find an Eduardo Nuñez thread, but the way things are progressing this offseason he's beginning to look more like he may be the guy the Mets bring in. I know little about him. What do we all think? Free agent. Turns 31 in June. Split time in 2017 with the Red Sox and Giants. .31/ .341/.460. 12 homers, 33 doubles, 24 stolen bases in 114 games. 146 hits, but only 18 walks. I'm sure that there will be a lot of reasons why he's less than perfect (there always are) but is he the best remaining choice out there?

This poll is now tied! Such drama! Anyone else care to cast a vote? 17 people voted in the THANK YOU CARDS vs IN THE BIG INNING thread, and only 16 have voted here. That 17th person, whoever it is, is the potential swing vote here. How exciting!
  10. Edgy MD wrote: It's the first hint I've had this offseason that he Mets retain some of the regard for Nimmo that I do, so I'm kinda chuffed. That is rather intriguing.
  11. I hear that they're trying to lure Willie McCovey out of retirement.
  12. Thanks for your responses! I think what I'll do is gradually convert each of the internal UMDB pages to be responsive. Some of them will be easy, and I'll do those first, one by one. The trickier ones will be last. Maybe I'll never get to them. I guess we'll see!
  13. I think the lack of commitment, both in years and dollars, is why nobody took a negative position. The composition of the Opening Day 25-man roster is hard to project at this point. My main concern is the roster spot that Gonzalez will potentially take up, but if he makes the team then I guess he'll have earned the spot. Spring training will be interesting.
  14. Thank you! Is there anyone with an iPhone who can give it a try? (Thanks.)
  15. Because I relish a challenge, I've been playing around a little with a responsive menu for the UMDB. Please access this link on your smart phone or mobile device and let me know how it looks. Hopefully you'll see something like the image on the right, below, and not the image on the left. If you see the image on the left, or something not quite like the image on the right, please let me know what kind of phone you have and what browser you're using. Thanks!
  16. This poll has two fewer votes than the other poll that was launched on the same day. Giving it a bump just in case someone overlooked it. GOD OF BLUNDER needs your help!
  17. Things not looking so good so far for GOD OF BLUNDER.
  18. I also voted for the Newsday cover for its nice clean layout. The Post cover is too cluttered, as they often are.
  19. Winner of Round 1.0.5 Winner of Round 2.1.1 Winner of Round 3.1.1 TRESPEDES New York Daily News, April 12, 2017. Yoenis Cespedes hits three home runs in a 14-4 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia. Winner of Round 1.0.7 Winner of Round 2.4.1 Winner of Round 3.4.1 GOD OF BLUNDER New York Daily News, May 1, 2017. Perhaps Noah should have had that MRI after all.
  20. Winner of Round 1.0.4 Winner of Round 2.3.2 Winner of Round 3.3.1 IN THE BIG INNING New York Post, April 4, 2017. The Mets get 2017 off to a good start with a six-run seventh inning in their 6-0 Opening Day win over the Braves. Winner of Round 1.0.14 Winner of Round 2.2.1 Winner of Round 3.2.1 THANK YOU CARDS Newsday, July 21, 2017. A walk-off single by Jose Reyes gives the Mets a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals at Citi Field.
  21. I don't think it will be "both", and the only likely way for it to be "neither" is if there's an injury, so the choices come down to "Adrian not Dominic" or "Dominic not Adrian" I voted "Adrian not Dominic" but I could just have easily gone the opposite way. I guess I'm guessing that Gonzalez will be good enough to make the team. I think the Mets may be looking to avoid having Smith accrue service time too quickly.
  22. I agree. I'm committed to voting for GOD OF BLUNDER for as long as it's in this competition. The people who staged the introductory press conference this year selected GOD OF BLUNDER as one of the three representative covers (one from each publication) for the 2017 season:
  23. I don't know how you fit Duda and Bruce on the same team, unless the plan is to have Dom Smith spend the year at AAA. And if Duda gets a multi-year contract, I have to figure that they're trading Smith. I don't see it happening.
