  1. Our winning cover, by a vote of 11 to 3. 1967 defeats 1968. I'll post the image of the final bracket when I get a chance. Unfortunately, there's no ceremonial announcement in Stockholm. There's a strike at the home office and Maja hasn't been seen in weeks.
  2. He should trade Familia.
  3. He needs to drop that second E from his surname.

His talent is wasted on the 2018 team. But I want to think that the Mets will make themselves better for 2019 and 2020, and I want deGrom and Syndergaard to be part of that.
  5. I'm pleased with the finalists. These are my two favorite covers. My choice is 1968, but it's currently well behind 1967 in the voting.

  7. Our two finalists are... 1967 and 1968! 1967 scored an easy 11-2 victory over 1966, and 1968 pulled out from what had been a neck-and-neck race to defeat 1970 by a vote of 14 to 8. ADVANCING TO ROUND SIX: ELIMINATED: ADVANCING TO ROUND SIX: ELIMINATED:
  8. And rather quickly, too.
  9. I think we were saying the same kinds of things last year around this time. Not too late. Plenty of time. Just need to start winning. It did work in 2015 and 2016, so who knows? It's just that the hole keeps getting deeper. The Mets need to start by putting down their shovels.
  10. And we thought it was going to be brutal! HAH!
  11. That's because you're too young to remember. June 15, 1977 was the Mets version of December 7, 1941.
  12. Every year, when I notice that it's June 15, my first thought is of Tom Seaver being traded to the Reds. But then, a moment later, I recall it's also the day that Keith Hernandez came over from the Cardinals.

  14. Sounds like a plot for a "buddy movie".
  15. The 1968 vs. 1970 poll now has 22 votes, a new high for this competition! Thanks to everyone who jumped in and voted. The downside of this, is that its sister poll is feeling unloved, with only 11 votes. Nobody loves the lopsided! Yearbook Cover Derby Semifinal Round 5.02 1966 vs 1967
  16. Or maybe not! I just checked again, and 1968 is ahead 10 to 9.
  17. There would be a thing called a "weighted tiebreaker". It's been a possibility since the first TCD in 2015 but has never had to be invoked. Maybe its time has come.
  18. Since this thread was posted, I've noticed that 1968 took leads of 7-6 and 8-7, but 1970 later pulled ahead 9-8, but now we're once again tied, with 18 votes having been submitted. Anyone more voters out there? According to Baseball Prospectus, the odds of an eventual need for a tie-breaker are steadily increasing!
  19. I see that I successfully nudged a 6-6 tie into a 7-7 tie. Hopefully there are still some votes out there. Some of our previous polls had as many as 21 votes.
  20. One of our semi-final Yearbook Cover Derby polls is stuck in a tie, with only 12 votes. In previous polling threads we've consistently seem more than 12 voters, so if you haven't voted yet it's vital that you do so! Do your duty, Judy! Yearbook Cover Derby Semifinal Round 5.01 1968 vs 1970
  21. At least April was fun. That's more than we had last year.
