1. Pete Alonso is now the first Met ever to join the 47-1 club! (47 or more home runs and 1 or more stolen bases.)
2. Voting for all games played in August will close on Monday, September 16. If you still have some August votes to cast, please do so in the next seven days. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/index2.phpCast your votes!

Edgy MD wrote: Did a decent job as a utility infielder in 1980, but got buried behind Bill Almon, who was probably worse offensively and defensively but had the pedigree of being a former #1 overall draft pick. The article probably loses something in translation, but it's true that when I think of Jose Moreno I think of all of his pushed, scored, and robbed races. José –Mackey — Moreno, the only player in the history of Dominican winter baseball with a 30-30-30 campaign in pushed, scored and robbed races, died Friday night at the General Plaza de la Salud Hospital at age 61 years old
5. I just received an e-mail telling me that http://leaptoad.com/mets/profile.php?PlayerCode=0311Jose Moreno died yesterday. I haven't yet found any confirmation of this.

7. =86dreamer post_id=20940 time=1567627047 user_id=97] Wilson next, no?
8. I agree. I'd be quite happy for them to sneak into the playoffs. It would make September a much more interesting month.
9. Too bad that "mercy rule" wasn't in effect.
10. My losing streak and the Mets' losing streak ended virtually simultaneously.

12. Pete hasn't yet caused the Mets to rise on this particular list, but perhaps soon:

GiantsBarry Bonds

16. You just insulted Ron Hodges!
17. Kevin Plawecki
18. Wow! And that number isn't at all likely to increase.

20. I'm going to label this one a "Big Game", not only for the benefit that would come from winning a game against the Braves, but also from avoiding the negative aspect of a series-opening loss with deGrom on the mound.
21. Checking in on the Tabloid Cover Derby, which is about two and a half months away. The covers for 2019 are still accumulating, of course, but we're already guaranteed a lengthier Derby than we had in 2017, and we're closing in on 2018. If the Mets, as we hope, play deep into October, we can challenge the totals from 2015 and 2016. (Note: For the first time, the Tabloid Cover Derby will be using a fiscal year. Covers late from late November 2018 and the entire month of December, which missed last year's cutoff, will be eligible for the 2019 competition.) 23. My son just happened to mention Roger Cedeno, and I thought he might be the 1999 guy.
24. Yes, Kelly Johnson would be one. I'm very stumped over who the others might be. I had been thinking Todd Zeile, but I don't think that's right.
25. Well, it was nice seeing him again. At least his last game as a Met won't be the one in which Chase Utley broke his leg.
