3. If I remember correctly, I said he'd have his 40th homer before August 20.
4. At the time of his death, Al Jackson was the 20th oldest living Met. John DeMerit now moves into the Top Twenty, and Bob Aspromonte moves into the Top Forty. http://leaptoad.com/mets/oldestliving.phpOldest Living Mets

7. Lots of people leave a baseball game early because of the score, especially if the home team is losing. Look at the seats in a game where there's a ten-run difference. A lot more of them will be empty than before the game got out of hand. But I don't like the idea of a rule change. But if a team is down by 20 runs and there are two innings left and the manager is running low on players and doesn't want to put an outfielder on the mound, I don't think a forfeit is a terrible idea.

9. I don't know if it was commented on in this thread, but at one point Gary Apple seemed to be praising Brodie for being canny enough to not include Jeff McNeil in the Cano/Diaz deal. Yes, I'm glad McNeil wasn't included, but I wouldn't be inclined to praise a GM for not making a stupid awful deal more stupid and more awful.

12. Can't a team just elect to forfeit?

This year he's moved up four notches, and that's as far as he'll get for now. He passed Jon Matlack, Al Leiter, Ron Darling, and David Cone. In 2020 he has a shot at passing Sid Fernandez. Then he starts getting into really elite territory.

18. It wasn't a typo. I just briefly developed a New England accent.
19. I probably knew this but forgot. The Mets single-season RBI record, like the home run record, is a tie. The record is 124, set by Mike Piazza in 1999 and tied by David Wright in 2008. Pete Alonso currently projects to 121.8, which puts him in the hunt. The only other Met to reach 120 RBI in a season was Robin Ventura, with exactly that number in 1999.
20. Here's the updated list. I knew that the Mets were low on the list but didn't realize until today that they were in 29th place. Hopefully they'll move up a few notches this season.

GiantsBarry Bonds
21. Pete is also moving up the all-time list of Mets home-run hitters. Only 51 Mets have hit more in their Mets tenure than he has. 1. Darryl Strawberry 252 2. David Wright 242 3. Mike Piazza 220 4. Howard Johnson 192 5. Dave Kingman 154 6. Carlos Beltran 149 7. Lucas Duda 125 8. Todd Hundley 124 9. Kevin McReynolds 122 10. Edgardo Alfonzo 120 11. Ed Kranepool 118 12. Art Shamsky 42 48. Mike Cameron 42 48. Gregg Jefferies 42 51. Todd Zeile 41 52. Pete Alonso 39 52. Ryan Thompson 39 By the way, I remember when Wayne Garrett's 55 homers had him in the top ten. Now the requirement for the top ten is more than double that amount. Michael Conforto is likely to eventually knock Edgardo Alfonzo out of the tenth slot.

23. Final reminder that all games from July will close tomorrow.
24. I want to see Alonso break the club record for two reasons: 1. The Mets club record for homers is very low on the list, ahead of only the Royals, based on a list I found from 2017. (See below.) 2. I don't want Todd Hundley and his obviously steroid-enhanced season to continue to be the record holder. I remember how much I wanted Beltran to break that record in 2006.
