1. There can't be a better name than Stubby Clapp, can there?
2. Do we know the dates yet when the Rookie-of-the-Year and Cy Young winners will be announced? First week in November, I assume? Right when the Tabloid Cover Derby is getting underway.
3. Yeah, I'm kinda afraid that Buck Showalter would be another Dallas Green.
4. Joe Espada: https://s.hdnux.com/photos/01/05/75/01/18337869/3/gallery_xlarge.jpg>
5. This is Derek Shelton: https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2019/10/derek-shelton-twins.jpg?quality=80&strip=all&w=400> And this is Mike Bell: https://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/cc9b9306bcc485f7742aa512591c882360204bab/c=5-0-4027-3024/local/-/media/2018/01/29/Reno/RGJ/636528513226482410-Mike-Bell.jpg?width=540&height=405&fit=crop>
6. It looks like we have a few polling threads about the next manager, but not one to track the progress of the managerial search. So here it is. Girardi had an eight-hour interview with the Cubs. Mets are reportedly seriously considering Beltran which, if true, would mean that the next manager won't necessarily be experienced.
7. And even if they are in fact on equal footing, which is dubious, it's far better to shoot for 100 wins because, as marathon states above, your chances of getting into the playoffs are much better. You're much less likely to have to try to fend off five other teams in the final weeks of the season, and also to have to sweat out that one-game elimination round.
8. Voting for all games played in September will close next week, on Tuesday, October 15. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Vote here
9. We live in a world that has streaming and DVRs. Why does anyone watch commercials anymore?

12. I think there's some leftover shrimp somewhere from the last CPF Song Parody Contest. Hopefully it's not too rancid.
13. The ghost of Gary Carter also expressed an interest, but that was back in June.
14. I'm pleased. I'm also glad that they let him finish the season, rather than appoint an interim manager whose tenure only lasts three or four games.

16. Wow... what has Hubie been up to?
17. I would have caught the ball and pretended I didn't hear the pitcher shouting. I would have said afterwards, "My bad. Just strike out the next guy if it's that important to you."
18. I agree that it's bush league. Teams should be trying to win, not pad the stats of individual players. Did Guzman get charged with an error on the play? I guess his fielding percentage isn't as important as Minor's strikeout count.

20. I say issue it. If it was up to me, I'd issue number 8 to every player next season, just to finally bury this issue.
21. I think he's got to be one of the season's goats. (I can picture a Bill Gallo drawing of him under goat's horns.) I bet if we tallied up the games that the Mets lost because he blew a lead and turned half of them, or maybe even a third of them, from losses to wins the Mets would be preparing for the postseason right now.
22. I love the reference to the Susquehanna Hat Company. And I agree with you about Gary Carter, too. Retiring his number makes absolutely no sense. He deserves it as an Expo (if there were still Expos) but not as a Met.
23. Even if he stops at 51, I'll be more than satisfied. 51 is a pretty cool number, because at a glance it looks like a prime number, but it isn't!
24. AND retire his number! (Whatever it is!)
25. Pete has really moved the Mets up on this list! They're now ahead of three of the original franchises (Brooklyn Dodgers, Washington Senators, and Chicago White Sox) and are tied with the Boston Braves.

GiantsBarry Bonds
