I was curious about how the Mets compared to other teams at first base. 28th was higher than I expected! Which two teams got less production out of first base?

I agree. Good stuff from Bichette, Lindor, Soto, Benge, Ewing will all help, but that can't be enough. Get a real first baseman. Figure out who's going to replace Semien at second base, because that really needs to happen. Add some depth to the position players on the bench. And bring in at least two solid starting pitchers. And, same as every year, rebuild the bullpen.

I mostly agree with Gwreck's list. I'd switch the Phillies and the Braves, not because I like the Braves but because I live in Phillie territory and it would be nice to see them shut down sooner rather than later. -
Has this movie been "canceled" yet? I remember there was a scene where Neil Diamond performed in blackface, obviously a tribute to the Al Jolson original, but not the kind of thing that gets tolerated at all today. Diamond's movie was actually the second remake of the 1927 movie (the very first talkie, by the way). There was also a version with Danny Thomas. It was the first one that I watched, when I was a kid. It was a "Million Dollar Movie" on Channel 9, during a Mets rain delay.

The new guys have the ownership of Ultimate Mets Database, and that's okay. But they're apparently planning to discard most, if not all, of the content I provided to them. If you decide that you want to take on the actual UMDB data and present it under a new name, we can certainly discuss whenever it's convenient for you.

I have no idea whether or not he was a Texas Ranger, but I'll roll with that hint and say Mike Torrez.

I think Jim Fregosi was a Texas Ranger, but I really doubt he accumulated nearly enough WAR as a Met to qualify.

That was the stated goal of the Nimmo-Semien trade, but it was a weird move to make in a season in which you hope to contend. It may have reduced the payroll, but it also hurt the team on the field, and I don't think any of us were surprised that Semien wasn't as good as Nimmo.

I kind of think that Claudell Washington was a Ranger, but I'm not sure. I may be just associating his last name with the city where the Rangers originated.

Well, that's a good point. He didn't exactly engineer a miracle turnaround, he just did better than the previous guy, and that's a pretty low bar.

I probably would have sent him down, at least for a few weeks. It's good that they didn't. And I've forgotten all about Jeff McNeil! I've mostly been missing Pete and Nimmo!

I haven't watched at all since early July. I saw one at-bat this month because I was in Greece and was curious to see if my MLB account worked from there. I saw Francisco Lindor fly out to right field. That's all the baseball I've watched in nearly three months. Maybe I'll take another peek before the regular season ends, given that 2027 is very uncertain it might be a while before I can watch the Mets again.
